Student answer (Band 5.0)

Water is a basic needs of human Rights consequently the government should have to supply water totally free of cost. I strongly agree with this statement.

On the one hand, water is very significant of all people and everyone need to use water in daily life. Water is also use for many other things. For instance, water is used for cooking, washing clothes, and drinking in our daily life also use for making shake, mint, juices. Therefore, water is good for health and it is healthy if we take water 7 to 8 liter daily it would be good for all people. In addition water is basic need for all human being many city and countries facing issue regrading water because some city do not have water they purchase for water and pay so many money hence, Government provided these facilities it could be good for people people and government. On the other hand , Many individuals intake dirty water because they are not using filter water or supply water the main reason government have bill if we use the water supply filter . For example many rural areas have face water problems and used water in river it is not good for health and they causes many health issue, as a result too much intake of these water cause of hepatities and many disease so the government should provide free cost of water . Althought, I think government provide free cost of water it could be good for all and also good for health. because many people do not pay bill.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For example, the argument regarding health benefits is mentioned multiple times without providing a strong, logical progression. The examples provided, such as 'making shake, mint, juices', are somewhat informal and lack the academic tone required for Task 2. While the main points are relevant, they are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning, which limits the score to a 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'therefore' and 'for example'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between government bills and water quality is disjointed. The transition between the two main body paragraphs is abrupt, and the concluding sentence is underdeveloped, failing to effectively summarise the main arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'water', and 'people'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'intake dirty water' instead of 'consume contaminated water' and 'provide free cost of water' instead of 'provide water free of charge'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision, and the errors in word formation occasionally make the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('water is basic needs'), article misuse ('the government should have to supply water'), and punctuation errors. Complex sentence attempts are rare and often contain errors, such as the run-on sentence in the second paragraph. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
