Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, there a lot of discussion about whether clean water should be provided free of charge to every home. Some people believe that access to clean water is a basic human right, While other people believe that should pay for himself. I completely agree that every home should have access to clean water free of charge.

To begin with, clean water is very important for human life and health . people need water for drinking, cooking, washing and other daily activities. Without clean water people can suffer from many diseases. For instance, poor families may not able to pay foe clean water and they are use dirty water from rivers or other useless and unsafe sources. As a result, they can suffer from serious health problems. Therefore I believe that providing clean water for free can protect everyone health and improve quality of life.

On the other hand, free water can help poor families and reduce inequality in society . Not everyone has the same financial situation, and some families cannot afford clean water and other basic sources. If the government responsibility to provide a clean water free of charge from everyone. For example, poor families children can drinking clean water at home, Therefore they cannot suffer any health problems and they can stay healthy.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that clean water is a basic human need and every home access to use it. While, free water sometimes lead to waste it. They can use use too much water for washing cars, garden or other activities

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention health benefits and inequality, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'waste' in the conclusion is introduced too late and is not integrated into the main body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported idea with specific examples or logical consequences. The conclusion should also summarize your main points rather than introducing new concepts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'While other people believe that should pay for himself' is grammatically disjointed, and the transition 'If the government responsibility to provide...' is not a logical connector. Additionally, the final paragraph lacks a clear link to the previous arguments. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally sufficient to communicate your ideas, but it is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'clean water,' 'poor families,' and 'health problems.' There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'useless and unsafe sources' (instead of 'contaminated') and 'waste it' (instead of 'wasteful consumption'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of public policy and socioeconomic issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people need water... they are use dirty water'), missing articles ('provide a clean water'), and sentence fragments ('If the government responsibility to provide...'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb. Proofreading for small errors like missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms will also help.
