Student answer (Band 6.0)
Out of all the human basic right, accessibility to clean water is an important one. In this context, it is a common opinion that water supply should be provided free of cost to every household. I strongly agree with this stance, and in this essay I will explain my arguments on this.
Firstly, I believe that people spend a lot of money in buying clean and pure water for them even they do not have enough money, and this is because that they do not want to compromise on their health. However, companies sell their products , giving people low quality water and effecting their health causing diarrhoea and stomach infections. This problem can be overcome if every household will be provided a free water supply that is pure and of good quality. In this way, people will not waste their hard earn money in buying bad quality water, instead they spend their money in other purposes for the betterment of their lives. Also, if people have the free access to clean water and then they use it for drinking purposes, their health will not be compromised.
Furthermore, if people get the free access to clean water, this will be beneficial for the wellness of the agriculture sector of the countries. This is because farmers spend a lot of money on expensive water supply systems like tube wells and other machines and this give an immense effect on their financial conditions. If access to the clean water will be free for them, they will produce better quality crops at a higher rate and also they will be able to get rid of the financial burden.
On the other hand, some people oppose these opinions and believe that giving free access of the clean water can effect country's economy. These are the people who are running businesses of packaged mineral water and they claim that they are playing a major role in running the economy of their countries. They have this stance that free water access will diminish their businesses because people will no longer buy their products. However, in my opinion, if they change the quality of their products in a positive manner and give good quality and pure water to the people, their businesses will sustain even after the free access to the clean water.
In conclusion, I would like to say that people have different opinion. I strongly believe that giving a free access of clean water to people can make their lives better in personal as well as agricultural areas. Their financial burdens will be lowered and also their health will become better by doing so.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding health benefits and agricultural improvements are relevant and extended. However, the development of the counter-argument is slightly weak; the suggestion that private companies should simply 'change the quality of their products' to survive is a bit simplistic and does not fully address the economic implications of providing free water. Overall, the ideas are well-supported, but could benefit from more nuanced analysis of the economic feasibility of the proposal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, such as health benefits or agricultural impact. Cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the link between the agricultural argument and the main thesis could be more tightly integrated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'agricultural sector', 'financial burden', and 'packaged mineral water'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'effecting their health' (should be 'affecting') and 'hard earn money' (should be 'hard-earned'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, but there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary that would elevate the response to a higher band. Some phrases are slightly repetitive, such as 'free access to clean water'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the free access', 'the clean water') and verb forms ('if every household will be provided' should be 'is provided'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'effect' used instead of 'affect'. Despite these errors, the sentence control is generally good, and the errors do not impede communication. To improve, focus on article usage and conditional sentence structures.
