Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent decades, individuals in many countries are facing challenges for the water. A significant number of people believe that water accessibility is a basic human right, since government should provide water in every home without any charges. I strongly agree with this viewpoint because water plays a crucial role in human life.
On the one hand, nowadays people are suffering lack of water and they are provided costly water. This is because, government are supplying water through pipes in cities and villages, but people are buying water for fulfil their basic needs of life. Therefore, this is completely wrong since water is a human rights and should be not charged to people for water. For example, Municipality supply water everywhere and take charges every month from societies, there people argue that they should not charge them because water is a essential part of life and they are need water everyday.
Additionally, people can save money and they can invest their money on better education and good lives. The main reason for this that a large portion of a middle-class family's income is spent on water. Therefore, they can spend their money on other things. For instance, Pakistan are facing lack of water their people do not enough water for fulfilling their daily life needs, even some families do not have good income source so that they can afford to purchase water.
In conclusion, people are spending money on water because government supply water in urban and rural areas they do not have other choice. Hence, government should provide water completely free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, focusing on the human right to water and the economic benefits of free supply. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Pakistan is a bit vague and could have been better integrated to support the argument about economic relief. While the position is consistent, the supporting points lack the depth required for a higher band, as they rely on repetitive phrasing rather than nuanced exploration of the complexities of water management and infrastructure costs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Additionally,' and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Therefore, this is completely wrong' which lacks a clear antecedent. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Despite these minor issues, the overall progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific language like 'accessibility,' 'infrastructure,' and 'middle-class family.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'facing challenges for the water' instead of 'facing water-related challenges' and 'take charges' instead of 'levy charges.' The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government' vs 'government'), subject-verb agreement ('government are supplying'), and prepositional usage. For example, 'they are need water' is grammatically incorrect. Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain errors that slightly impede the flow. The punctuation is generally functional, but the control over sentence construction needs improvement to reach a higher level of accuracy.
