Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that access to clean water is one of the basic human rights which is why government should provide enough drinking water for every household provided free of charge. I have a mixed opinion regarding this view, From my prespective, clean drinking water is one of the most important needs for human survival and should be provided to every individual in the nation but it is quite unrealistic to assume that our government can make such development in the near future without any help from residents.

First of all, human beings cannot even survive without water in this planet as it is necessary for their day to day functioningand for that reason, it have been regarded as a basic human right. Furthermore, a human's body is cultivated in such a way that it cannot survive without food and water for a long time. For example, you can observe the fat and muscle loss in a person's body if he is not consuming food and water on a daily basis. So, I think development is this topic is a necessity.

On the other hand, it is quite unrealistic to assume that nation can make drinking water free of cost. This is because we are still an under developed nation which means most of the state's funding is poured into building infrastructure and developing the country. That is the reason why our government cannot make such development in the near future without proper fundings and support from citizens. For instance, residents can raise a small amount of money for the government provide enough money for the government to start this free drinking water project.

In conclusion, while i believe drinking water is one of the most necessary services that our nation should provide, it is also unrealistic to assume the development in this sector in the near future due to the lack of fundings. In my opinion, if we can raise a considerable amount of money to help our government in establishing this project, we could provide free drinking water to out nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position on whether water should be free. You acknowledge the importance of water as a human right while balancing this against the economic reality of funding such a project. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'fat and muscle loss' is not directly relevant to the economic or social policy of providing free water. To improve, focus more on the practical implications of government-subsidized utilities versus private or user-paid systems. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical transitions or repetitive phrasing. For example, the transition 'From my prespective' contains a spelling error and is slightly informal. Additionally, some referencing is a bit vague, such as 'development is this topic,' which could be more precisely phrased. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'survival,' 'infrastructure,' and 'subsidized' (implied by context). However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'make such development' is not the most natural collocation; 'implement such a policy' would be more precise. There are also minor spelling errors like 'prespective' and 'fundings' (funding is an uncountable noun). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and public policy, and ensure you are using uncountable nouns correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. For instance, 'it have been regarded' should be 'it has been regarded,' and 'in this planet' should be 'on this planet.' There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and preposition usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
