Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary world, concerning bodies should make sure that households should have access to pure water and making it a human necessity. Hence, the government should provide water to everyone at no cost. I altogether agree with notion because the health and the economical burden of the individuals may improve.

First and foremost, clean water prevents from hazardous disease. Outbreaks and severe bacteria can trasnmit into human body thorugh contaminated water, may resulting in severe health risks. On top of that, water which is not filtered may contain active particles and mciroorganisms and that would be directly linked to the overall health of housholds. For instance, families accessing water directly from river site for household chores such food preparation, may contains germs. Therefore, clean water is a always healthy and preventative.

Furthermore, individuals are buying water from local store or supermarket which is costing them a large proportion of their monthly budget. By and large, families buy a water camper from local vendor in order to prepare food or drink. Besides, people purchase a water bottle because of the absence of the public water accessiblity. For example, metro commuters spend dialy 100 rupees while going to office, where the public water dispensers may negate this expense.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that a facility of pure water to each family is indispensable in current time. The government should install water taps at public places to provide clean and fresh water all the time and a channle to supply clean water to the houses in residential colonies. It will not only enrich a person's health but also mitigate the amount they are spending to buy a clean water at homes and public places as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the provision of free water and supporting this with arguments regarding health and household expenditure. The ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as discussing water-borne diseases and the financial burden on commuters and families. However, the development in places tends to generalise slightly without deep elaboration, and the conclusion introduces new ideas such as installing public water taps rather than strictly summarising the arguments presented. These features align the response best with a Band 6.5 descriptor, as all parts of the prompt are addressed with a clear position, though some ideas could have been more fully expanded.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that moves from a general introduction to health benefits, financial implications, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal logical movement, such as 'First and foremost,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion.' However, some referencing is slightly faulty or mechanical, and paragraph transitions could be smoother. For instance, the transition from health benefits to personal budgeting feels somewhat abrupt. Overall, the organization is logical, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the task, including terms such as 'contemporary world,' 'indispensable,' 'mitigate,' and 'contaminated water.' However, there are notable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'concerning bodies' instead of 'relevant authorities,' 'transnit' (spelling error), 'mciroorganisms' (spelling error), 'river site' instead of 'riverside,' and 'buy a water camper.' These lexical inaccuracies and occasional spelling mistakes place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category, where the vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in grammatical structures. Examples include conditional and relative clauses, such as 'water which is not filtered may contain active particles...' and 'metro commuters spend dialy 100 rupees while going to office, where the public water dispensers may negate this expense.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, including 'making it a human necessity,' 'prevents from hazardous disease,' 'may resulting in,' and 'dialy' (spelling error). These errors occasionally require the reader to re-read but do not completely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 6.0 score.
