Student answer (Band 6.0)
The growing prevalence of basic human right has prompted a closer examination of its implications for individuals and society as a whole. Although providing free water supply has a few drawbacks, I believe that goverenment should place a policy for cost free water for household. This view is primarily based on health benefits and financial benefits.
One of the strongest arguement in support of providing free clean water is that water improves the general well-being of humans. This is largely because filtered water prevents many health diseases. In particular, it keeps people hydrated in hot summers. For example, consider and individual who is given greater access to drinking water. They are more likely to survive the heatwaves in extreme hot weather conditions, which can subsequently improve their health. This illustrates staying hydrated can produce tangible benefits at individual level. Therefore, water supplies for houses should be free of charge.
A further consideration is that free water resources can reduce the financial burden. The underlying reason is the inflation. This is particularly relevant when people earning below the threshold income as they cannot afford filtered purchased water and pushed to drink unsuitable tap water. Consequently, some people have to spend additional money on water filter or buying from supermarkets, which can have significant implication for the economy. Taken together, these factors suggest that providing free water will mitigate extra purchases.
In conclusion, although a few people will disagree with idea, I firmly believe that water resources should cost free. This is mainly becuase of numerous health and financial benefits, which together suggest that government should supply clean water to homes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses the prompt by clearly taking a position agreeing that free water should be provided to homes. The main ideas, focusing on health and financial benefits, are relevant and supported with explanations. However, the development of ideas lacks some depth and specificity in places. For instance, the introduction contains a slightly unclear phrasing ('The growing prevalence of basic human right'), and the supporting example about an individual surviving heatwaves is somewhat simplistic and generalised. Despite these minor limitations, all parts of the task are addressed and a clear position is maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each body paragraph dedicated to a distinct main point (health and financial benefits). Cohesive devices are generally used to guide the reader, such as 'One of the strongest argument' and 'A further consideration'. However, there are some mechanical or awkward transitions, such as 'This is largely because filtered water prevents many health diseases. In particular, it keeps people hydrated...' where referencing could be smoother. Overall, the organizational structure is clear, aligning well with the Band 6.5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'prevalence', 'implications', 'threshold income', and 'mitigate'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors, grammatical infelicities, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'goverenment' instead of 'government', 'arguement' instead of 'argument', 'filtered purchased water', and 'becuase'. Furthermore, expressions like 'cost free water' and 'cost free' are slightly unnatural compared to standard collocations like 'free of charge'. These lexical inaccuracies place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence architecture with structures like 'Although providing free water supply has a few drawbacks, I believe that...' and 'This is particularly relevant when people earning below...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings that distract the reader, such as 'goverenment should place a policy for cost free water', 'when people earning below' (missing auxiliary verb), and missing articles in places (e.g., 'disagree with idea'). While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. This corresponds to a Band 6.0.
