Student answer (Band 6.0)
Every individual has a right to get clean water. Thus, water supply should be provided to every home free of cost. I completely agree with this statement as it is the most significant need of every human.
Initially, water is the primary need of every human because we cannot even survive a couple of days without drinking it. Moreover, It helps us to clean the environment and home by washing everything with a clean water. For Instance, we have to wash our clothes and keep our house clean so it cannot be done without using clean water. Furthermore, it is used in various industries and factories and also in the production of goods and commodities.
In Addition, almost half of our daily life activities are dependent on the consumption of water. Consequently, it become our basic need because of its nature. Moreover, not every resident can afford clean water as most of them are poor and they do not have enough funds to purchase it. Lastly, I would say that it should be provided free of charge to every citizen because they cannot spend their life without it and many of them die due to the shortage of water, therefore government should provide water supply to every home freely so that they can live their life easily. For example, some areas in the world have no water supply and people suffer dramatically because of this reason.
In Conclusion, most of the activities and needs of humans are dependent on water and there is no alternative of water to perform these functions so authorities should take step on this to avoid problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge. The ideas are relevant and supported by general explanations regarding survival, hygiene, and industry needs. However, the development of ideas tends to be repetitive, relying heavily on the assertion that water is a basic human need without introducing broader socioeconomic arguments. For instance, the argument about affordability is touched upon but not fully extended. This places the performance within Band 6, where all parts of the task are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, with over-reliance on basic transition words like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' at the start of sentences. Additionally, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'so it cannot be done without using clean water', where the antecedent is slightly vague. Progression is visible, but the logical flow between sentences could be smoother, aligning closely with Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's arguments about water access and human rights. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'significant need', 'consumption', and 'dramatically'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'right to get clean water' instead of 'right to clean water', and 'spend their life without it' instead of 'survive without it'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical range restricts the score to a Band 6, as the vocabulary is adequate rather than flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and causative structures like 'so that they can live their life easily' and 'because of its nature'. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as unnecessary capitalization after commas ('Moreover, It helps'), subject-verb agreement issues ('it become our basic need'), and awkward phrasing ('take step on this'). While these errors occasionally disrupt the flow, they rarely impede overall communication. The command of grammar is consistent enough to satisfy the requirements of Band 6.
