Student answer (Band 5.0)

Polluted water has become a widely debated issue in the recent years. While, some people believe that the dirty water is dangerous for our human health. I strongly agree with the statement because harmful water causes many diseases and disturb the whole system of our body.

The main reason why i agree is that the polluted water in our sewage system causes many diseases when you drink it and use for other purposes. This is because in our environment for children to the elderly every person targeted by a lot of diseases like Cholera, Typhoid, etc. This clearly shows that when we targeted from the any type of disease, so our body health affected by this types of diseases. Therefore, take an action against government members for our social rights like access of cleaning water.

Another significant reason is that the government workers did not work on this issue and always takes money from the government but did not work on this human right problem. In other words, we take an action against this main issue and solve it in a next few months. A good example of this seen in the neihbourhood countries where every government worker does his work by heart and full of intention. As a result, the every type of age people have a smart and fit and performs our daily work with full intention.

In conclusion, i completely agree that the main point which is that the access of clean water is a basic human right. This is mainly because it is a basic right of every community individuals and it want to the peoples. At the end, the one more human right is that authority take an action against our workers and gives a free of charge water supply for the residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in agreement with the statement that clean water is a basic human right and should be provided free. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The prompt actually contains two distinct parts: access to clean water as a basic human right, and whether it should be provided free of charge. While the student touches on waterborne diseases and government responsibility, the argument lacks depth and relies on over-generalised assertions rather than robust supporting examples. The mention of 'neihbourhood countries' is too vague to serve as an effective illustration. Therefore, the response demonstrates the characteristics of Band 5, as the ideas remain somewhat under-developed and the position, although clear, is supported with limited reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by awkward transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'The main reason why i agree is that', 'Another significant reason is that', and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, notably in the conclusion where pronouns like 'it want to the peoples' lose their clear antecedent. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow of sentences often feels disjointed. These features align closely with Band 5 descriptors, where some organisation is evident, but cohesive devices are frequently inaccurate, repetitive, or inadequate for guiding the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'disease', 'work', and 'right'. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'dirty water is dangerous for our human health', 'when we targeted from the any type of disease', and 'neihbourhood countries'. Spelling errors such as 'neihbourhood' also occur. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, the frequent inaccuracies and lack of sophisticated phrasing place this response firmly in Band 5. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are often marked by awkward collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms connected by conjunctions like 'because' and 'when'. Attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to ungrammatical phrasing, such as 'when you drink it and use for other purposes' and 'every person targeted by a lot of diseases'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use, for instance, 'always takes money' and 'access of cleaning water'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, such as unnecessary commas breaking up clause structures. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader, matching the criteria for Band 5.
