Student answer (Band 5.0)

Polluted water has become a widely debated issue in recent years. While some people believe that dirty water is dangerous for human health. I strongly agree with the statement because harmful water causes many diseases and disturbs the whole system of our body.

The main reason why I agree is that polluted water in our sewage system causes many diseases when you drink it and use it for other purposes. This is because in our environment from children to the elderly every person is targeted by a lot of diseases like Cholera, Typhoid, etc. This clearly shows that when we are targeted by any type of disease, so our body health is affected by this type of diseases. Therefore, take some action against government members for our social rights like access to clean water.

Another significant reason is that the government workers did not work on this issue and always take money from the government but did not work on this human right problem. In other words, we take an action against this main issue and solve it in the next few months. A good example of this can be seen in the neighbouring countries where every government worker does his work by heart and full of intention. As a result, people of every age have a smart and fit and performs our daily work with full intention.

In conclusion, i completely agree that the main point which is that the access to clean water is a basic human right. This is mainly because it is a basic right of every community member and it want to the peoples. At the end, the one more human right is that authorities should take an action against our workers and give a free of charge water supply for the residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, strong position that clean water is a basic human right and should be provided free of charge, as discussed in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The prompt asks whether every home should have a water supply provided free of charge, but the student spends significant portions of the body paragraphs discussing government corruption and actions against government workers rather than directly focusing on the economic and social implications of free municipal water supplies. Examples are attempted, such as referencing neighbouring countries, but remain vague and under-developed. Because the student addresses the core theme of clean water as a right while missing some nuance in the prompt's focus on free supply, the task achievement is awarded a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing a clear structural attempt. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices. For instance, sentences like 'This is because in our environment from children to the elderly every person is targeted...' create confusion and lack smooth links. Pronoun referencing is also unclear in places, such as 'it want to the peoples' in the conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow of arguments is choppy, with abrupt transitions between points about diseases, government workers, and free water. Overall arrangement gives a sense of organisation, but cohesion is faulty and mechanical throughout, placing it firmly at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'disease', 'water', 'human right', and 'intention' across the essay. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'disturbs the whole system of our body', 'body health is affected', and 'take money from the government'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'neighbouring countries', but overall control is lacking, with errors in word formation ('peoples') and phrasing ('full of intention'). Vocabulary is adequate to communicate a basic stance, but frequent inaccuracies and narrow range restrict the score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as tense shifts ('the government workers did not work... and always take money'), subject-verb agreement issues ('every person is targeted', 'people... performs'), and missing articles or prepositions ('take an action against'). Complex structures are often faulty or unnatural, as seen in 'This clearly shows that when we are targeted by any type of disease, so our body health is affected by this type of diseases.' These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band, resulting in a score of 5.0.
