Student answer (Band 5.0)

"Save Water, Save Earth" by this type of several slogans government of all countries are awaring the people to save water because the earth is having only 5-7% drinkable water. Drinking clean and mineral water is basic human necessary, and every single household should have a water supply is provided without any cost. I thing disadvantage of this statement outweight the advantages. This essay further will discuss the whole scenario and I will conclude it with my logical opinion.

Advantage of provididng free water is that poor families which can not efford this water expenses can drink water without any hesitation also some of the local animals can drink water from the free sources. Dispite this if government take tax on the water some of the wealthy families which are wasting water they will understand the value of water and don't wast water.

Also many of the individuals like to throw the rest of water on the road or in the gutter line due to this many of the villages world wide are still dying becase of water shortages. The most devastating consequence of this unmitigated water water wastage is the physical and economic collapse of rural communities.A striking example of this is Hatkarwadi village in the Marathwada region of india.Due to upstream water mismanagement, the village's local wells dried up completely, forcing up to 90% of the population to evacuate and abandon their ancestral homes.

To conlcude, I would like to say that clean water supply is must be provided to an limited amount of water by meters , if the home allready used minimum amount of clean water then governmant have to took tax if the home use more water beyond the limit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the disadvantages of free water outweigh the advantages, stating 'I thing disadvantage of this statement outweight the advantages.' The writer attempts to support this position by discussing water wastage, conservation incentives, and providing a specific example of the village of Hatkarwadi. However, the development of ideas suffers from a lack of clarity and organizational cohesion, particularly in the opening and closing paragraphs. The introduction includes informal phrasing and clunky phrasing ('awaring the people'), and the conclusion suggests a nuanced metering system ('provided to an limited amount of water by meters') that diverges somewhat from the initial stance against free water. While the task is addressed, the execution remains limited in depth and suffers from imprecise task interpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays an attempt at logical organisation, evidenced by transitional phrases such as 'Advantage of provididng free water', 'Dispite this', and 'To conlcude'. However, the overall progression is heavily disrupted by poor paragraphing, abrupt shifts in focus, and mechanical cohesive devices. The second paragraph groups contradictory ideas together, and the third paragraph abruptly introduces a detailed case study without smooth integration. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, and run-on sentences such as 'Due to upstream water mismanagement, the village's local wells dried up completely, forcing up to 90% of the population to evacuate and abandon their ancestral homes' lack proper punctuation boundaries in surrounding sentences, weakening the overall flow and structural coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and frequently hindered by word-choice errors, incorrect collocations, and spelling mistakes. Examples include 'awaring the people' instead of raising awareness, 'human necessary' instead of human necessity, 'outweight' instead of outweigh, and 'provididng' instead of providing. The student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'unmitigated water wastage', 'devastating consequence', and 'ancestral homes', which demonstrates some ambition. However, persistent errors such as 'wast water', 'Dispite this', and 'governmant have to took tax' restrict the lexical score to the Band 5.0 range, as these inaccuracies occasionally cause strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is consistently low throughout the text. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and preposition use, such as 'government of all countries are awaring', 'earth is having only 5-7%', and 'throw the rest of water on the road'. Punctuation is also problematic, including missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'communities.A striking example') and run-on clauses. Complex structures like 'if the home allready used minimum amount of clean water then governmant have to took tax' are structurally faulty and fail to convey meaning smoothly. Because errors are frequent and pervasive, the grammar sits firmly at Band 5.0.
