Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is the basic right of every human and no one should restrict this genuine right from any human, thats why every person should have free water supply. I completely agree with this statement because water is the basic necessity of everyone's life. No person can survive without water. I also agree with the essay that every home should have free access to water because its a natural thing and no one have any right to sell it.
Water is the most necessary thing for our life alongside with oxygen. Our whole body is made up of 70% water. Our every organ work through supply of blood and this blood is majorly compose of water. If the water intake decrease, our blood volume starts depleting which leads to ischemia and organ failure. For example, in hot summer days, when people are working in direct sunlight, they dehydrate so much and if the water is not available to them at that moment, they suffer from heat stroke which ultimately leads to their death. Therefore, Every person must have access to water and that should be free of cost.
Without water, there is no life and thats why there should be no charge for it and it should be accessable to every home without any cost. Poor people, who cannot even afford food, how they will pay for this basic right which is a natural thing and doesn't belong to anyone. The prime examples are African countries, where WHO and different NGO's provide water without any charges.
In conclusion, water is the basic right of human life and in my opionion, every home should have its supply without any changes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student takes a clear position agreeing that water should be provided free of charge, addressing all parts of the prompt. Ideas are extended and supported, particularly in the second paragraph regarding physiological needs and health consequences like ischemia and heat stroke. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize and repeat the central thesis ('water is the basic right... every home should have free access') multiple times across paragraphs without introducing much new developmental depth. For instance, the mention of African countries and NGOs in the third paragraph is somewhat underdeveloped. This fits the Band 6 descriptor where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some are repetitive or under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction, body paragraphs dealing with biological necessity and socio-economic access respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or repetitive, utilizing basic connectors like 'thats why', 'also', and 'therefore'. Referencing can also be imprecise, such as 'I also agree with the essay' (referring to the prompt). Additionally, there are minor cohesive flaws and repetitive phrasing ('without water, there is no life and thats why there should be no charge for it'). This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'physiological', 'dehydrate', 'ischemia', and 'organ failure' to support the argument. However, there are noticeable lexical and spelling errors that detract from precision, such as 'accessable' instead of accessible, 'opionion', 'changes' instead of charges, and 'compose' instead of composed. Phrasing is occasionally unnatural or repetitive ('water is the most necessary thing for our life alongside with oxygen'). While less common vocabulary is attempted, the persistence of basic spelling and word-choice errors places this firmly at Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and causal structures ('If the water intake decrease, our blood volume starts depleting...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('intake decrease', 'organ work', 'no one have') and missing articles or prepositions ('its a natural thing', 'alongside with oxygen', 'without any changes'). Punctuation is also weak, marked by comma splices in sentences like 'Water is the basic right of every human and no one should restrict this genuine right from any human, thats why every person should have free water supply.' These errors occasionally cause slight difficulty but rarely impede overall communication, earning a Band 5.5.
