IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.
Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Water is vital and one of the most important human rights in the world is the access to a reliable drinking water. To do so, the authorities should provide water supply to every house for free, and i believe it is the right thing indeed.
Firstly, safe water is not fairly devided in the world geografically, that is why the governments are the ones that should be generally in charge for providing it to their citizens, beacause it is such a huge project, not something that a groupe of people can do, it might even requires the approval and the cooperation of several coutries in many cases, like the nile river for example, it became a source of conflicts between many countries instead of a source of water.
Secondly, not all the citizens can pay for the water supply by themselves, for instance, the source of water can be near by some and thousands of kilometers away from the others, and the more distance the more money it requires, especially in arid areas that have no near water surfaces, like deserts.
In conclusion, I support the idea of providing reliable water supply should be for free for any human being.
