Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that the basic human right is access to clean water in every home so government should provide free water supply in every home.I completely agree with this statement that there should be free water supply in every home because consumption of clean water help reduce various health problems and consumers donot have to spend money on filter water and purification systems, which will helps them save more money for future.

To begin with, Nowadays many people are suffering from various health problems because of their eating or drinking habits. Without acess to clean water, people may consume water from unsafe or unreliable sources. As a result they will suffer from various disease like Diarrheoa, Cholera, Typhoid and Desentry .But, If everyone household has access to clean water, people can avoid consuming contaminated water and it will overcome the health problems.

In addition to this, Many people spend quite a lot of money on water filters and purification systems because they want to use clean water. If the government provides clean drinking water, this expenses can be avoided ,allowing families to save money and use it for other essential needs such as eucation, healthcare and food. Furthermore, they donot need to use gas to boil the water before drinking it, which will save fuel or gas.

In conclusion, providing free clean drinking water supply has several benefits that it helps people to live healthy lifestyle without worring about causing disases and financial burden on households can be reduced.Hence I formally agree with the idea of providing free water supply in every home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear and consistent position in agreement with the statement. The writer extends relevant ideas throughout the body paragraphs, focusing on health benefits and financial savings for families. For instance, the discussion around avoiding water-borne diseases and reducing household expenses on filtration systems clearly supports the thesis. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat general and could be enhanced with more specific examples or deeper elaboration. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main points regarding health and finances. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'In addition to this'. Furthermore, referencing and punctuation errors occasionally disrupt the flow of reading, particularly in the introduction and first body paragraph, placing the response firmly at Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'consumption', 'purification systems', and 'financial burden'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'acess' instead of access, 'Desentry' instead of dysentery, 'eucation' instead of education, and 'worring' instead of worrying. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a lack of precision and prevent the score from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as conditional sentences ('If the government provides clean drinking water...'). However, there are frequent errors in punctuation, missing articles, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'clean water help reduce' and 'every household have'. Commas are often omitted or misplaced, particularly before conjunctions and after introductory phrases. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse meaning, which is characteristic of Band 5.
