Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is important human right that they have access to purified water. So that's why each house must have supply of clean water and it must be free. I strongly agree with this statment. Clean water is basic and fundamental right of each one. Clean water is the back bone of human life, without it life is impossible and challenging.

Firstly, clean water is the fundamental right of every individual as according to both natural and human made laws. It is the duty of state to provide the clean water to its citizens. Without clean water, it is difficult for individuals to live good and health life. for instance, big cities always face challenges regarding the clean water and also for shortage of water. It is the duty of the government to prvoide free supply of clean water to every home. As according the laws of state, clean water to citizens is also a fundamental right, so that's why government must have to provide free access to clean water.

Secondly, nowdays it is challenging for individuals and house holders to get clean and purified water easily. Purified water reduces the possibilty of diseases to expand, beacuse mainly diseases expand through the dirty water. If there will be clean water, there will be less chances of diseases to expand. Therefore it is right of each house to get free supply of clean water. Thirdly, in todays world clean water is used as business. Big companies are selling the water and earning the money from local public. It is not affordable to locals to purchase the their basic rght of clean water.

In conclusion, it is right of every home to get supply of free clean water beacuse it is their fundamnetal right. It is not according to natural law to sell the clean water for purpose of money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response presents a clear position strongly agreeing with the prompt that clean water should be provided free of charge to every home. The student addresses the main parts of the task by discussing fundamental human rights, government responsibility, disease prevention, and the commercialisation of water. However, the development of ideas tends to be repetitive, often restating the same points without significant extension or deeper analysis. For instance, the assertion that clean water is a fundamental right is repeated multiple times across the introduction and body paragraphs rather than being built upon with diverse examples. While the ideas are relevant to the prompt, the limited depth and repetitive nature of the arguments place this performance firmly at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a clear overall arrangement with distinct paragraphing, featuring an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. The student attempts to use logical connectors such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'In conclusion' to sequence the points. However, cohesion is often mechanical and sometimes faulty. For example, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'beacuse mainly diseases expand through the dirty water. If there will be clean water...' where transitional flow is disrupted. Furthermore, the internal organization within paragraphs lacks seamless progression due to repetitive phrasing. Overall, the structural framework is apparent, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.0 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'fundamental right', 'commercialisation', and 'purified water'. However, there are notable limitations and frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling. Examples include 'health life' instead of 'healthy life', 'prvoide' instead of 'provide', and the repetitive use of phrases like 'clean water' and 'fundamental right'. Additionally, awkward collocations such as 'diseases to expand' rather than 'spread of diseases' detract from the precision of the writing. While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the lexical control aligns best with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with article usage, subject-verb agreement, and clause construction, such as 'It is important human right that they have access' (missing article), 'so that's why government must have to provide' (awkward phrasing and redundancy), and 'If there will be clean water' (incorrect conditional form). Punctuation errors also occur, including run-on sentences and comma splices. Although the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, the density of grammatical mistakes across the text prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, making Band 5.0 an accurate reflection.
