Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapidly changing world natural sources of water has been declined from many regions , that make it difficult for people to get clean water free of cost ,the fullfillment of their basic necessity now needs to pay. That matter convert into heated debate that people should pay to access clean water or should have it without any charge as it is the basic thing on humanity grounds.I strongly agree with this idea that every home should have water supply without any cost.

One of the main reason why it is important to have free of charge water is poverty if i talk about in terms of specifically my country there are many people who are spending there lives below poverty they didn’t have enough to eat if they have to pay to access clean water than the things will become more worst.Secondly,if people have to pay to get clear water that may make population more vulnerable to different diseases as if they can’t afford to have clean water than they may use contaminated water that may cause various health concerns. Moreover,if the people are unable to get their basic right to have clean water that may increase crime rate in the region as when people have to pay for their basic needs that may create frustration and neagative emtions in them.

In conclusion, it is more beneficial to have free of cost access to clean water for everyone on the humanitarian grounds that will leads toward in building a healthy community .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the idea that every home should have a free water supply. The writer attempts to support this position with relevant arguments regarding poverty, health concerns, and potential crime rates. However, these ideas are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. For instance, the mention of poverty and disease is stated generally without exploring how free water policies impact these issues practically. Furthermore, there are minor gaps in fully extending the arguments. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5.5, fulfilling the criteria for addressing the prompt with a clear position, but remaining somewhat limited and under-developed in idea expansion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a basic level of organisation, attempting to follow a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion. However, the overall progression is disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesion, as well as a lack of clear paragraphing. The main body contains a single, very long block of text that crams multiple distinct ideas together without adequate division. Additionally, cohesive devices are sometimes misused or punctuation is neglected, creating run-on sentences like '...different diseases as if they can’t afford to have clean water than they may use...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, placing this performance firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate to convey the basic message, but the range is limited and repetitive. The writer employs basic terms such as 'clean water', 'basic need', and 'health concerns'. There are noticeable lexical and word-formation errors throughout the response, such as 'natural sources of water has been declined', 'fullfillment', 'neagative emtions', and 'humanitarian grounds' used slightly inappropriately. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, although communication is not entirely impeded. This profile reflects the characteristics of Band 5.0, where vocabulary is minimally adequate with frequent errors in word choice and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on long, unpunctuated run-on sentences joined by commas instead of proper conjunctions or full stops. Examples include '...in many regions , that make it difficult...' and '...if they have to pay to access clean water than the things will become more worst.' There are frequent errors in verb tense, agreement, and punctuation throughout the text, such as 'has been declined', 'needs to pay', and missing capitalisation. Because attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and cause reading difficulty, the grammar score is Band 4.5.
