Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a position on whether free water should be provided to every home, suggesting a modified approach where free water is supplied mainly during the summer. While the writer attempts to present supporting ideas, the development is limited and confused by tangents regarding gender differences in water usage and specific health tips about drinking 7 liters of water daily. The central argument is somewhat lost in fragmented thoughts and repetitive statements. However, all parts of the prompt are touched upon, earning a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The text is divided into four paragraphs, but the logical progression within and between them is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are either misused or overused, such as repetitive transitions like 'For instance' and 'hence'. Referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader struggling to connect pronouns like 'they' and 'it' to their proper referents. Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas are jumbled together without a clear unifying theme per paragraph, resulting in a score of 4.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dust water', 'seasonal cities', and 'weekly twice'. Terms are often misused, which obscures meaning in several places (e.g., 'every human begin can't live without water'). While there is a sufficient range of everyday words to communicate the general topic of water supply, the severe limitations in precision and numerous lexical inaccuracies place this at Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text is characterized by run-on sentences, comma splices, and frequent structural errors, such as 'water can supply that is provided free of charge governments' and 'the women can has responsibilites to cooking'. Simple sentence forms predominate, and attempts at more complex structures are almost invariably faulty. Frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and word order impede communication significantly, justifying a Band 4.0.
