Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is a fundamental requirement of every living organism on earth. Everyone should have the right to access pure clean water in this contemporary world. It is widely argued that higher authorities should allocate a water supply to every household without charging them. I absolutely agree with this approach because contaminated water is triggering a significant number of diseases and goverment should play a vital role in providing healthy facilities. This essay will elaborate the reasons of this positive approach.
Every person should be accessible to filtered water as filthy water is a devastating cause of many ailments. Industries are putting wastes in different water resources that finally joins rivers, lakes and oceans. When this polluted water reaches the human body, it gives rise to diabetes and various cardiovascular diseases. A strong example is that in some areas, unfiltered water triggers some dental problems like florosis because this water lacks of essential nutrients.
This issue can be addressed by adopting some healthy habbits. Government can play a significant role in providing this substantial facility to every household free of cost. When everyone will have access to filtered and clean water without paying any cost, it will significantly decline the proportion of contageous diseases caused by contaminated water. Moreover, government should conduct public awareness campaigns because individuals should adopt healthy measures. Everyone should have the knowledge about their health.
To sum up, government should take the responsibility to facilitate every individual with a clean and pure water as it can diminish the possibilities of various health-alarming diseases. Resultantly, it can help to build a healthy environment for wellbeings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge, supporting it with reasons such as public health benefits and government responsibility. However, some ideas lack deep extension. For example, the mention of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases linked to polluted water is scientifically questionable and underdeveloped. The essay touches upon key elements such as health risks and government action, satisfying the core requirements of a Band 6. The position is clear throughout, and the main arguments are identifiable, though the supporting evidence tends to overgeneralise or include inaccurate medical claims. To reach a higher band, the student needs to develop more plausible, logically supported arguments rather than relying on dubious medical assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide distinct ideas, such as health consequences in paragraph two and government solutions in paragraph three. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly deployed, as seen with transitions like 'Resultantly' and 'Moreover' which lack smooth integration. Referencing is occasionally ambiguous, and the logical progression between sentences stumbles at times, particularly regarding the sudden shift into personal habits versus government actions. Overall, the organizational structure is easy to follow, earning a solid Band 6, but it lacks the flexible and fluent cohesion required for a Band 7.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'fundamental requirement', 'contemporary world', and 'contagious diseases' (spelled 'contageous'). However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'goverment', 'habbits', 'florosis', and the misuse of 'accessible' ('Every person should be accessible to filtered water'). Collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'health-alarming diseases'. While these vocabulary limitations and minor inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, they restrict the score to a Band 6, reflecting an adequate resource that lacks precision and full control over more complex academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting complex forms with conditional clauses ('When this polluted water reaches the human body...') and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, such as missing prepositions ('lacks of essential nutrients', 'putting wastes in'), subject-verb agreement issues ('goverment should play'), and awkward phrasing ('Every person should be accessible to filtered water'). Punctuation and article usage also show frequent lapses. These errors occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, but communication is maintained, aligning well with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 threshold. A score of 6.0 is appropriate as there remains a functional mix of structures despite the persistent errors.
