Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's constantly innovating world, water sources are maliciously exploited by the Homo Sapiens. However, fresh water access is perceived as a bare minimum of what humans' deserve. Hence, each residence should have cost-free water supply. While, loss of value can be a demerit, I completely support the idea as it is the primary necessity and requires a lot of finance.
To commence with the underlying forces for acceptance, water is the basic requirement of not only humans, but for almost every organisms. Nevertheless, if it is charged, this universal amenity will only be accessible to the privileged section of the society. For instance, with the rising rate in drinking water, under-priveleged population will face a water scarcity and will fail to quench their thirst.
Adding further to the reasons, if clean water is commercialised, the amount required for daily usage will create a need to establish a fortune just to get a hand to this facility. Moreover, financially vulnerable people will again stay deprived of this basic need of every living being. To cite an example, with water being made economically available, citizens who are weak monetarily will not be able to fulfill their household chores.
In contrast, the significance of water will dwindle if availed without charging a single penny. Furthermore, the phenomenon will result in reckless ustilisation and over-consumption. To exemplify, a person consuming several litres of water just for a face wash.
In conclusion, albeit water usage made free will lead to losing its value, the forces that driven me to agree completely with the idea are its basicity in nautre and the emergence to accumulate finance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position on whether clean water should be provided free of charge. The main ideas are relevant and supported with explanations, such as the economic barrier to accessing water and the risk of over-consumption. However, some arguments feel slightly repetitive, particularly when discussing financial vulnerability and the deprivation of vulnerable populations in the second and third body paragraphs. The development leans toward generalization rather than deep extension. Overall, the response fulfills the requirements of the prompt adequately, earning a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as the arguments for free water versus the counter-argument regarding water wastage. Cohesive devices are employed, including transitional phrases like 'To commence with', 'Adding further to the reasons', and 'In contrast'. However, some cohesive links and phrasing feel a bit mechanical or unnatural, such as 'emergence to accumulate finance'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles due to awkward phrasing, placing this section firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a wide and ambitious vocabulary with phrases like 'maliciously exploited', 'universal amenity', and 'financially vulnerable'. However, there are noticeable issues with word choice, collocation, and word form. For instance, 'humans' deserve' contains a superfluous apostrophe, 'under-priveleged' is misspelled, 'basicity in nautre' is inaccurate, and 'establish a fortune just to get a hand to this facility' is unnatural. Furthermore, 'ustilisation' contains a typo. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey meaning and shows a willingness to use less common items, the persistent lexical inaccuracies restrict the score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting conditional and concessive clauses (e.g., 'While, loss of value can be a demerit, I completely support the idea...'). There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include punctuation errors like the misplaced comma in 'While, loss of value', subject-verb agreement issues in 'almost every organisms', and awkward prepositional or phrasing choices such as 'forces that driven me' and 'water usage made free will lead to losing its value'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from reaching Band 6.5.
