Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is a fundamental necessity for survival of life on the earth. Some argue that every human must have access to clean drinking water, along with each home should be provided with clean water free of cost. However, I strongly agree with the notion because clean water brings health benefits along with sense of being a part of the moral valued society.
To commence with, water free from germs and bacterias is significant for better life survival. Healthy life can be achieved only when someone drink clean water in their daily meals. If hazardous water is taken, then various health problems would be there such as stomach issues, pale colour, liver and chronic damages. For instance, In Karachi people face more health issues than who live in Lahore due to poor supply of clean water.
Furthermore, water free of cost should be provided to the people as this is a basic human need to survive. When a society which observes fewer moral values and ignores provision of necessities of life and asks people to pay for it, then this leads to violation of basic human rights. Thus, people in the society feel that they are the part of such a mindset which gives them a feeling of depriveness in the society. For example, in Balochistan people are charged for supply of clean drinking water, which have made them more selfish than the others who get free of cost water from the government.
In the conclusion, it has become evident that clean drinking water brings more health advantages and free of cost provision of water gives people a vibe of being important in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stance in agreement with the proposition that clean water should be provided free of charge. The main ideas, including health benefits and moral obligations of society, are relevant and supported with local examples such as Karachi and Balochistan. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly repetitive and lacks deeper analysis, which places the response securely in the Band 6 territory. All parts of the task are addressed, but some arguments are under-developed or rely on broad generalizations. For instance, the transition from moral values to human rights feels somewhat rushed, and the supporting examples could be explored in greater detail to achieve a higher score band. Overall, the response is relevant and adequately covers the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the essay into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To commence with", "Furthermore", and "In the conclusion". However, some of these transitional phrases are used mechanically or slightly inappropriately, such as "To commence with" instead of "To begin with". Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like "when someone drink clean water in their daily meals", where pronoun agreement and logical flow falter slightly. Progression is discernible throughout the essay, but the management of cohesive elements stops it from reaching the higher bands. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, ensuring the essay has a logical structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as "fundamental necessity", "hazardous water", and "violation of basic human rights". However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward collocations that recur throughout the essay, such as "survival of life on the earth", "liver and chronic damages", and feeling a sense of "depriveness" instead of "deprivation". Attempts at less common vocabulary are made, but they are often marred by inaccurate word formation or word choice, which places the lexical score at Band 5.0. While communication is not severely impeded and meaning is generally clear, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the student from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures ("If hazardous water is taken, then...") and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent, with frequent errors in prepositions, article use, and subject-verb agreement. Examples of errors include "along with each home should be provided", "someone drink clean water", and "in Balochistan people are charged... which have made them". Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical slips are common enough to cause occasional strain for the reader. The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences frequently contain minor errors, aligning the performance closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
