Student answer (Band 6.0)
While opinions differ regarding whether access to clean water is a basic human right, and every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge, I largely believe that it improves individual health and their overall well-being.
One of the major significance of having access to clean water free of charge is that it improves peoples' health. Essentially, when individuals are given water without paying for it, all of them will have equal access irrespective of their financial abilty. Since the water is save, they may not develop illnesses related to water contamination which can improve their health. For instance, if people take safe water regularly, they may ultimately improve their health leading to a better quality of life and contribute to the long-term development of society.
Furthermore, making access to clean water a basic human right and ensuring that each homestead is given safe water free of charge may help in improving the overall well-being of individualls. This is largely because people will have more time and energy for their normal activities due to better healthy. Therefore reducing stress and pressure since they may have ability to achieve their daily goals. For example, a healthy person can easily complete their daily tasks compared to a sick individual. As a result, this can ultimately bring about significant positive changes benefiting both individuals and society in the long run.
To conclude, I completely agree with the idea of giving every home a water supply that is provided free of charge because it improves individual health and their overall well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position ('I largely believe that it improves individual health and their overall well-being'). All parts of the task are addressed, and the ideas regarding health benefits and societal well-being are extended with supporting arguments and examples. For instance, the student notes that 'if people take safe water regularly, they may ultimately improve their health leading to a better quality of life.' However, the reasoning tends to be somewhat repetitive, looping back to general health and well-being points without introducing broader economic or infrastructural perspectives. This places the performance solidly at Band 6.5, as it addresses the prompt adequately with relevant, though slightly under-developed and repetitive, ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The text is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as health benefits in paragraph two and general well-being in paragraph three. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'As a result' are employed to guide the reader through the argument. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise ('all of them will have equal access', 'it improves individual health and their overall well-being'), and the overall progression feels slightly mechanical at times due to formulaic transitions. This demonstrates the characteristics of a Band 6.0 performance, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, though the overall arrangement remains coherent.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'water contamination', 'long-term development', and 'infrastructure' equivalents. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'significance' instead of 'significance' or 'benefit', 'abilty', 'save' instead of 'safe', and 'individualls'. These errors do not impede communication, as the reader can easily grasp the intended meaning, but they restrict the lexical score. This profile fits the Band 6 descriptor, featuring an adequate range with some spelling and word-choice errors that do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional clauses ('if people take safe water regularly, they may ultimately improve their health') and subordinate clauses ('While opinions differ regarding whether...'). However, there are noticeable grammatical and punctuation errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('One of the major significance of having...') and minor awkwardness like 'better healthy' instead of 'better health'. Despite these errors, the complex structures are generally understandable and do not impede communication. This corresponds well to Band 6.0, which features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with some persistent errors.
