Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is no doubt, that clean water is an essential human need. But, it is often argued that a supply of clean water should be provided in very home free of charge. I totally agree with this argument, but there must be some regulations to maintain the balance and optimal usage of water. These both points will be discussed in this essay.

The research shows that, from the begining of life, water has always been the one of the most crucial natural resources for life to nourish. The reminants of every old civilaztions that have been found till day, had the evidece that they were settled near a water body. Water have been the sign of life ever since. Even in this modern era, with other things water is also one of the basic human rights. Therefore, it is necassary for everyone to have access of clean water.

I think clean water supply must be provided to people by a well organised government body.

People access clean water by different means. Back in time, most of the home used to rely on their on underground water supply. Which are still in use. But the problem with this source of water is that, the underground water is limited and by such manners water is being used abundantly. There is an other factor that, this water is also getting polluted by chemical wastes by industries, specially in big cities. Which causes certain chronic diseases in people.

By keeping all these factors in mind. I think a monitered and balanced clean water supply for each home would be more efficient. This approach will help to us to use water more efficiently, by regualting its use and recycling it. This whole proccess would be very beneficial to deal with future water crisis.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement while introducing a qualifying condition regarding regulations and optimal usage. The ideas are relevant and generally supported, particularly through the historical discussion of civilizations settling near water bodies. However, some parts of the task development are slightly disjointed or under-developed, such as the sudden shift into discussing underground water sources and industrial pollution without fully integrating how free provision interacts with these practical issues. Despite these minor lapses in full task extension, all requirements of the prompt are addressed, placing the essay comfortably at Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs are quite brief or poorly linked, such as the isolated single-sentence paragraph 'I think clean water supply must be provided to people by a well organised government body.' Cohesive devices are used, but referencing and transitions are sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in phrases like 'These both points will be discussed'. Logical progression is maintained for the most part, but paragraph structure requires better control and smoother transitions to reach higher band levels, justifying a score of 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'essential human need', 'natural resources', and 'chronic diseases'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'begining', 'reminants', 'civilaztions', 'evidece', 'necassary', 'monitered', 'regualting', and 'proccess'. Additionally, phrases like 'by such manners water is being used abundantly' show unnatural collocations. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of lexical and spelling errors prevents the score from rising above Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure. There are instances of effective complex clauses, such as 'Back in time, most of the home used to rely on their on underground water supply.' However, grammatical errors are frequent, including punctuation issues ('There is no doubt, that...'), subject-verb agreement errors ('most of the home used'), fragment sentences ('Which are still in use.'), and awkward phrasing. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, which aligns closely with the Band 5.0 descriptors for grammatical accuracy.
