Student answer (Band 5.5)
The role of clean water in the world is widely debated. With some individuals claiming that clean water should be provided free of cost to the every human being because its access is basic human right. However, I personally do not entirly accept this and I will explain why in this essay.
The major reason to support this statement is that water is necessary for our daily needs. In other words, it is essential of drinking, cleaning, washing and more. Moreover, it is impossible for human being to imagine life without clean drinking water. For instance, in India government provide access clean water free of cost to each and every person because it is basic human need. Though, every human can drink pure water and could stay away from water born diseases.
The major reason to oppose this statement is that it requires a lot of money for the management of clean water. Means, authorities need money for the purification of water and for the repairing of pipelines so it seems difficult to provide clean water free of charge to everyone. Moreover, government should set a considerable amount regarding water supply. For instance, citizens of developed nations like america and australia need to pay fixed amount if they do overuse of water. Moreoer, If no charge will be implemented people regarding water usage they will waste water and will not understand its value.
To sum up, government should put reasonable charges on usage of water so even poor people can have access of clean water and I completely disagree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, although the conclusion slightly contradicts the body paragraphs by mentioning that even poor people should have access to clean water through 'reasonable charges' after stating a complete disagreement. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as mentioning India and developed nations like America and Australia. However, some arguments lack deep development, which places the response firmly at Band 6.0. The student covers both sides of the issue—acknowledging the necessity of water while highlighting management costs and wastage prevention—meeting the core requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure consisting of an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition 'Means, authorities need money' is informal and ungrammatical, and 'Moreoer, If no charge will be implemented people regarding water usage' demonstrates awkward referencing and logical flow. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate contrasting viewpoints, but the overall progression could be smoother. These issues point directly to a Band 6 descriptor, where cohesion is sometimes faulty and referencing is not always clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'purification', 'water born diseases', and 'overuse of water'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as writing 'entirly' instead of entirely, 'of drinking' instead of 'for drinking', and 'water born' instead of 'water-borne'. Furthermore, phrases like 'set a considerable amount regarding water supply' lack precision and idiomatic collocation. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, fitting the Band 6 profile well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditionals and relative clauses (e.g., 'If no charge will be implemented people regarding water usage they will waste water'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in India government provide access clean water'), incorrect prepositions ('access of clean water' instead of 'access to'), tense and modal errors ('will be implemented'), and punctuation slips. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching Band 7, confirming a solid Band 5.5 or Band 6 performance. Given the mix of correct structures and persistent errors, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
