Student answer (Band 5.5)
Every Human in this world has some basic rights which are necessary to fulfill by the government or any institution responsible for that person and one of the most basic human right is having access to a clean water for various purposes which include drinking, washing, cleaning etc. As every person needs clean water for various purposes they should be provided a stable water supply of clean water free of charge by their respective responsible institution.
Every person has a right to live a life which is free of problems and in our society one of the most basic problem faced by individuals is lack of access to clean water which has become a drastic issue at a major level. The government should be ashamed as they aren't able to provide people with these basic facilities which are responsible for a healthy sustainable life and due to the lack of fulfillment of access to clean water numerous people are facing health issues such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid and other water borne diseases which make life of citizens miserable and our govermnet doesn't even care.
If you ask me for my honest opinion every person in this world should be provided access to clean water as it is their right and without it they can't live their life to the fullest. Sometimes I tend to think that if we were in the place of those deprived of their basic rights how would we feel, we would feel terrible and if you deeply think about it aren't they human just like us don't they have a right to live a happy and stable life away from these basic problems, even though they are poor but it doesn't absolutely mean that they should be deprived of their basic necessary human rights.
Many outskirts of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab are facing these problems and aren't able to have access to rather clean water even though they also contribute to our country in some way so they should also get something in return, they also pay heavy taxes like us so why these people are deprived of these resources. We frequently hear that people are suffering from different diseases in these areas and most of them are related to water diseases.
In the end,If the government isn't doing anything vital to solve this catastrophic issue we should unite as a nation and try to run different relief campaigns to help these suffering individuals as we are also responsible because over government has failed to fulfill their responsibilty.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge as a basic human right. The position is maintained throughout the response, supported by arguments regarding health issues like diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid, alongside regional examples from Pakistan such as Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab. However, the tone becomes overly emotional and colloquial in places (e.g., 'The government should be ashamed', 'our govermnet doesn't even care'), which detracts from the academic register expected in Task 2. Ideas are extended, but the development leans heavily on repetition rather than sophisticated reasoning, placing this comfortably at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance and distinct paragraph divisions. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and run-on sentences are common due to inadequate punctuation. For instance, the opening paragraph is a single massive, complex sentence linked primarily by conjunctions without proper full stops or semi-colons. Similarly, transitional phrases between paragraphs are somewhat mechanical or missing entirely. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical progression is often hindered by the lack of clear sentence boundaries and punctuation control, justifying a Band 5.5 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'institution', 'sustainable', 'catastrophic', and 'contribute'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are accompanied by lexical errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'govermnet' instead of government, and awkward phrasings like 'drastic issue at a major level' or 'rather clean water'. Word choice is occasionally imprecise, but the meaning is generally communicated without causing severe strain to the reader, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. The essay suffers from persistent run-on sentences, comma splices, and a lack of proper terminal punctuation (e.g., 'In the end,If the government...'). There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'having access to a clean water', 'the life of citizens'). While the meaning can usually be extracted, the sheer frequency of grammatical slips and punctuation failures prevents the response from achieving a Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5.
