Student answer (Band 5.0)

in this world, water is a basic neccessity that is significant for people of all ages. i firmly believe that due to its paramount significance every household should have supply of water that is available at no cost. beacause it is convenient to manage and big relief for underprivalaged societies were people lack with scarcity of water.

first and foremost reason behind this is that if water supply offers to every home it will make life easier for elderly people living in a town,as they have to walk for around 1-2 kilometer with buckets on daily basis for a basic need.which will become more convenient for them if water reaches to their home through supply.

another striking benefit is that as its free for all the houses of the society it will saves considerable amount of money every month.especially as government is charging 1500 per month.which is 10 percent of a low income individuals expense. where this can be used in other important work or could be saved.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to address the prompt by agreeing that water should be provided free of charge, supporting this with ideas related to elderly citizens and financial relief for low-income households. However, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence in the final paragraph. Crucially, the length check confirms the response contains only 174 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This severe under-length penalises the task achievement heavily, as the ideas are underdeveloped and the task cannot be fully satisfied within this word count. Based on the limited development and failure to meet the length requirement, this performance corresponds to a Band 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic attempts at organisation, utilising transitional markers such as "first and foremost reason behind this" and "another striking benefit". However, the response lacks a proper introduction and cuts off abruptly before a conclusion can be formed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the extreme brevity and lack of a complete conclusion disrupt the overall progression of ideas. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun usage in supporting arguments. Overall, the structural flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text, placing it firmly at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate vocabulary range suitable for discussing a familiar topic. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including "neccessity" instead of necessity, "underprivalaged" instead of underprivileged, and "were" instead of where. Phrases such as "lack with scarcity" show awkward collocation and confusion in word form. While the vocabulary allows the writer to convey basic points about water supply and financial savings, the frequency of lexical errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing restrict the score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and clumsy attempts at complex forms. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ("in this world", "i firmly"). Run-on sentences and fragments are also present, for instance, starting a sentence with "beacause it is convenient..." and fragmenting clauses with improper full stops ("...for a basic need.which will become..."). Grammatical errors frequently cause minor difficulties for the reader, matching the descriptors for Band 5.0.
