Student answer (Band 5.5)

The access to clean water is a topic of debate. I completely agree ,It should be supplied in every home without any cost

Firstly clean water is a basic need of everyone to eloborate this our body comprises a big proportion of water which ensures a basic necessity of humans. Another compelling reason is that it helps in preventing from harmful diseases. Therefore government should introduce policies or volunteers to provide water at every home. However it also effects a particular countries reputation in all over the world. For example clean water helps to prevent from cholers and diarrhea. As a result government will spend less on hospitals. Moreover healthy population will be more productive along with more progress in country.

Secondly, clean water is not a luxury that everyone have it after spending money. It is a basic need like air for survival . Additionally Poor families have not enough money to get clean water they mostly drink contaminated water .For example in villages people drink contaminated water and are more likely to get diseases. Because they cannot pay bills. Everything is already very expensive and I believe it would be unfair to pay bills in order to meet basic needs. Consequently it helps to ensure equality among people.

To sum up it all I strongly agree to provide water without any charge in every home so that citizens can avail a significant benefits from it. Clean water plays a crucial role on health and economy of a country . Therefore clean water is beneficial in many aspects of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge to every home. The main ideas are relevant and supported with some explanation, such as mentioning health benefits, prevention of diseases like cholera and diarrhea, and economic productivity. However, some ideas are underdeveloped or repetitive, tending to over-generalise without deeper elaboration. For instance, the claim regarding a country's reputation lacks sufficient explanation. The position is maintained throughout, but the depth of support places this performance within Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, separating the main arguments into distinct body paragraphs. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical, with awkward transitions such as 'To sum up it all'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas can feel abrupt. Furthermore, punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text disrupt the flow. These characteristics align closely with Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'compelling reason', 'contaminated water', and 'significant benefits'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors that affect precision, such as 'eloborate', 'effects' instead of 'affects', 'cholers' instead of 'cholera', and 'everyone have it'. These vocabulary errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the score to Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. Frequent errors include missing commas, fused sentences, incorrect verb forms ('everyone have it', 'help in preventing from'), and faulty preposition usage. While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, they occur frequently enough to prevent the writing from achieving a Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5 due to the density of grammatical slips.
