Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that access to clean water is a basic human right .Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.I agree with this view because everyone should have right to stay healthy and impure water is one of the significant cause of multiple diseases. this essay will explain the reasons for this position.

one of the main reasons why i agree with this view is that every citizen has right to stay healthy .if people donot have access to the clean water and they drink it will harm them and cause different dieases. for instance children have weak immune system. if they drink impure water it will cause alot of abdominal dieases that will damage the health of children .Therefore it is clear that the clean water should be accessible to every human without any charges.

An other important reason is that in many ruler areas there is no avalabilty of water at there homes people struggles alot to get any type of water . they dont care about if its clean or impure. Moreover they donot have that previlage to get the water easily. For all these reason it cause very crusial health issues among those people . for example people live in backward areas of interior sindh still donot have easy access to water. Every day tanks came and gave tham a water and they charged for that. However no buddy knows its clean or not . so its important to get access clean water easily on daily basis.

In Conclusion , I completely agree that access to clean water is a basic human right . and its should supply to every home without any charges . this is mainly because its crusial for human health .Therefore i believe that clean water should be easily accessible for every human .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly and takes a clear, consistent position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge. The main ideas, such as health benefits for children and the plight of rural populations, are relevant and supported by specific examples like interior Sindh. However, some arguments lack deeper elaboration. For instance, the discussion on rural areas touches upon water scarcity and costs, but does not fully explore the economic feasibility or policy implications of providing it free of charge. The response meets all the basic requirements of the task by presenting a well-developed argument with a clear opening stance, supporting body paragraphs, and a concise concluding summary. This performance aligns well with Band 6.5 to Band 7 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Logical progression is generally maintained as the writer transitions from health arguments to geographical and economic factors in the second body paragraph. However, cohesive devices are somewhat basic or mechanically applied, evidenced by repetitive use of transition markers like 'Furthermore' and 'Therefore'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the dangling pronoun reference in 'if people donot have access to the clean water and they drink it will harm them'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but internal cohesion requires more sophisticated links to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas about health, human rights, and public services, incorporating some less common items such as 'immune system', 'abdominal diseases', and 'backward areas'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'dieases' instead of 'diseases', 'ruler' instead of 'rural', 'avalabilty' instead of 'availability', 'previlage' instead of 'privilege', 'crusial' instead of 'crucial', and 'nobuddy' instead of 'nobody'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur with frequency, though they rarely impede overall communication. The range is sufficient for the task, but lexical control restricts the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures through conditional clauses and relative clauses, such as 'if they drink impure water it will cause alot of abdominal dieases'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation and capitalisation errors, including missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and after full stops, as well as missing commas. Run-on sentences and fused clauses appear frequently, such as 'every citizen has right to stay healthy .if people donot have access...'. Article usage is also inconsistent ('the clean water', 'a water'). Because errors occur across many sentences and frequently distract the reader, this performance fits Band 5.0.
