Student answer (Band 6.0)

The consumption of water is essential for the basic needs of the people. Access to clean water is a basic human right, therefore every home should have a water supply thta provided free of cost. I firmly agree with this decision that each home should have their own water supply which is provided them with no cost.

Water is a basic need for both human being and animals. It played a crucial role in our lives, we need water consumption to survive. Water can be use for several purposes such as bathing, cleaning, washing, drinking. Most of the people are using underground water which results in shortage of water in summer season. The government should provide the clean water restored from dams, rivers, lakes that is free of cost which help mostly the rural areas who faced the shortage of water in summer seasons.

Furthermore, the municipal department should introduced the installing of taps in every homes to provide the water supply suffieciently. In addition, the society leaders should also encourages the people regarding their rights. They should take part in the cleaning of the rivers because it is important for the human being to keep their rivers clean and hygenic, as a result it is beneficial for both marine life and as well as human lives. The government should also create awareness among the people regarding water pollution. They should take strict action towards the people who are spreading water pollution.

To sum up, Acces to water is really a basic human right because it help them with the shortage of water. I completely agree that human should ask for their rights regarding accessiblity of water supply that is free of cost because water is an essential part of our lives. We need water for our basic needs to survive effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task, taking a clear and consistent position in agreement with the prompt. The response introduces relevant ideas regarding the basic human need for water, the role of government, and infrastructure development. However, many of these ideas remain under-developed or repetitive, such as the repeated mentions of water shortages in summer and free provision. While the writer outlines a clear stance, the supporting arguments lack depth and rely on general assertions rather than fully extended discussion. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor, where all parts are addressed, but some areas suffer from under-development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement divided into four paragraphs, following a logical progression from introduction to arguments and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'To sum up', although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive ('The government should...'). Paragraphing is used adequately to group related ideas, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'because it help them with the shortage'. Overall, the organization is clear enough to follow easily, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'consumption', 'infrastructure' (implied), and 'hygenic' (spelled hygienically/hygienic). However, there are notable spelling errors ('thta', 'suffieciently', 'Acces') and word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'municipal department should introduced the installing'. While these errors occasionally distract, they do not impede overall communication. The lexical range is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning, matching the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or causal structures with 'because' and 'so that'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb tense and agreement, including 'It played a crucial role' (instead of plays), 'Water can be use' (instead of used), and 'every homes' (instead of every home). Punctuation and article usage also show recurrent flaws. Because complex structures are often faulty and errors are frequent though rarely impeding comprehension, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
