Student answer (Band 5.5)

Clean water is a basic necessity and core human right and it should be delievered to each and every home without charging anything.

Clean water has always been an issue of many under-developed and developing countires where many states and local communities do not have access to clean fresh water.Clean water is a basic human right there should be no compromise on it and this should be the governments most priority. Clean water is needed for everything wheather we look into personal domestic consumption , industrial or agricultural use it is needed in all aspects. For instance many countries like Africa and Nigeria do not have access to clean water so the childersn faces swear diseases due to the dirty water and even if people somehow arrange useable water they dont have the basic drainage system.

In addition , Nowadays people have to pay for everything there,s so much financial burdern already so goverment should not charge even a penny to those not only to those who are suffering from water access but to everybody .Clean water is a natural resource and should be supllied to people free of cost in a proper way. For example it could be done by a planting the filtration units in every community or city free of cost by the goverment.

I firmly agree on the statment that clean water should be provided to anybody living anywhere and this should be done by a free supply system across globe. Clean water is not a luxry its a basic right so should be given free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, overall stance that clean water should be provided free of charge as a basic human right. The writer covers both reasons and examples, such as mentioning domestic, industrial, and agricultural uses, as well as referencing public health issues in regions like Africa and Nigeria. However, some ideas are under-developed or contain sweeping generalizations, such as treating Africa and Nigeria as uniform examples without much nuance, and suggesting that governments should not charge 'even a penny' for water globally. While the position is consistently maintained, the depth of task exploration corresponds to a Band 6 level, where relevant ideas are presented but remain somewhat limited or underdeveloped.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible progression of ideas, moving from the definition of the problem and health impacts in the first body paragraph to financial burdens and proposed solutions in the second. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division could be improved. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'For instance', and 'For example', but referencing and conjunctions are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty (e.g., run-on structures and abrupt transitions). Furthermore, some sentences lack internal cohesion, leading to a choppy reading experience. These features align well with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors, comfortably earning a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'necessity', 'consumption', 'industrial', 'agricultural', 'financial burden', and 'natural resource'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'delievered', 'countires', 'wheather', 'childersn', 'swear', 'useable', 'dont', 'goverment', 'supllied', 'statment', and 'luxry'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their high frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary attempts show flexibility, but word choices remain basic and recurrent misspellings cap the score at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, punctuation flaws, and run-on sentences throughout the response. For instance, the opening sentence 'Clean water is a basic necessity and core human right and it should be delievered...' strings clauses together without proper punctuation. Other errors include missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues ('the childersn faces swear diseases', 'goverment should not charge'), and faulty relative clauses. While meaning can generally be extracted, the density of errors causes frequent distraction, placing the grammar firmly at a Band 5.0.
