Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that clean water is a basic human right and should be provided free of charge to every home. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The student repeatedly states that clean water is a basic need and that people buy water from sellers, but lacks extended, well-reasoned arguments or specific examples. The causes of water pollution are mentioned briefly (factories and chemicals), but they are not fully connected to the main thesis. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and rely heavily on restating the same point, this corresponds to Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into four paragraphs, reflecting an attempt at structure. However, there is a lack of overall progression, and the logical flow is disrupted by repetitive statements and abrupt transitions, such as starting sentences with 'Only the clean water is the basic need' or 'In big cities some people buy clean water.' Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, as seen in the confusing transitions between sentences. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak and repetitive, which places this performance at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on general paragraph organisation.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive throughout the essay. Words like 'clean water,' 'basic right,' and 'problem' are repeated excessively. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'People do not found clean water' instead of 'find,' and 'water poluate water with in a few days' instead of 'pollute water within.' Less common vocabulary is attempted with inaccuracy (e.g., 'paly a vital role'), and spelling or morphological errors are frequent enough to cause some strain for the reader, aligning with Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and occasionally complex sentence structures, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('the percentage of dirty water increase'), verb tenses ('people do not found'), and articles ('the clean water'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and incorrect capitalization ('water poluate water with in a few days'). While some basic sentences are clear, the high frequency of errors across complex attempts restricts the score to Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
