Student answer (Band 5.5)
All homes should have water connection and it would be free of cost. It is a basic right of everyone to get clean water.
All the humans living in the world have equal rights, individuals should have access to clean water. Moreover all houses must have their own connection to water and government should provide water free .
From my perspective, I strongly agree that water should be provided free of cost because water is a basic need, We cannot live without it.Our 70% of body depends on it. Meanwhile, drinking polluted water cause many diseases. For instance, in Pakistan typhoid is very common it is because people drink polluted water which affect their health.
On the other hand, individual on low income cannot afford to buy water. so, they have to drink tap water. For example, now a days, there are many companies selling water on high prices such as Nestle and aqua. that is not affordable for everyone. In addition, Government should try to provide clean water by supplying water to their homes at no cost. they should provide these facilities to all people because getting clean water is everyone's right. they should try to start campaign to raise awareness for clean and safe water supply.
In conclusion, purified water is a basic need of humans. In fact, all human being should be treated equally. Government should try to provide easy access to clean water by installing purifier or by providing home services. Water should be provided free of charge for every resident.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge. Main ideas, such as health implications and affordability for low-income households, are introduced and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of typhoid in Pakistan and commercial bottled water brands like Nestle. However, some ideas feel slightly repetitive, especially regarding the government's role, and the development could be extended further for a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately and a clear position is maintained throughout, fitting the descriptors for Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although some paragraphs contain multiple distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', but referencing and transitions can occasionally feel mechanical or repetitive (e.g., the repeated use of 'they should'). Logical progression is present, but overall cohesion could be managed more flexibly to achieve a higher score. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, incorporating terms such as 'purified water', 'basic need', and 'affordable'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is sometimes accompanied by word-choice errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'selling water on high prices' instead of 'at high prices', and 'drinking polluted water cause' where a plural subject-verb agreement error occurs. Spelling is generally accurate throughout the response. The lexical control reflects Band 5.5, which rounds to Band 6 given the adequate range and absence of severe communication blockages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. While there are some correct complex structures (e.g., 'From my perspective, I strongly agree that water should be provided free of cost because water is a basic need'), there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include punctuation and capitalization issues (e.g., starting sentences without proper capitalization in places, comma splices like 'water. so, they have to drink tap water'), and agreement errors ('drinking polluted water cause many diseases'). These errors occur frequently throughout the response, though they rarely impede overall communication, placing it solidly at Band 5.0.
