Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue regarding free water supply, but it falls significantly short of the required word count, containing only 210 words compared to the 250-word minimum. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas, leading to under-developed arguments regarding resource wastage and government subsidies. While a position is stated, the limited elaboration prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, the writer must ensure all tasks are fully expanded with comprehensive supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the paragraphing is somewhat erratic, with the conclusion blending into the final body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'In some conditions', 'However poor people', and 'In the other hand'. While there is a basic logical progression from introducing the topic to discussing both perspectives, referencing is occasionally unclear and the overall flow is hindered by mechanical transitions and poor punctuation spacing.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The lexical resource is basic and repetitive, featuring numerous spelling errors such as 'Acess', 'neccesity', 'hummans', 'houshold', 'deink', 'frre', 'socites', 'benifits', 'tretments', 'subcidies', and 'isuues'. Vocabulary is generally restricted to common, simple words, and attempts at less common terms result in incorrect word forms or collocations like 'safe drink' instead of 'safe drinking water' or 'clean water'. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling errors occasionally impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is weak throughout the response. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('hummans are not take seriously', 'government give subcidies', 'water needed maintance'), missing articles ('goverment to providing water'), and faulty conditional or transitional structures ('If the water should be free comltely they waste'). Punctuation and capitalization are also unreliable, causing frequent difficulty for the reader.
