Student answer (Band 5.0)
In contemporary society, water supply has become a widely debated issue. While a segment of people firmly believes that water should be supply to every home free of charge, others strongly oppose this view. From my perspectives, I firmly agree that every house should have a water supply that is provided free of charge, as it offers several significant advantages.
To commence that, a compelling reason supporting my viewpoint is that water is essential component of life as people cannot survive without it. When individuals get water supply free of cost, they become capable of fulfill their daily water needs. Moreover, this not only enables them to improve life activities but also enhances their wellbeing. Consequently, a large proportion of individuals can derive a substantial benefits from water. For example, in rural areas there are shortage of water, Government should be provide free supply of water. This instance vividly illustrates that how free supply can exert a positive influence on their life. Hence it is undeniable that free water supply plays a pivotal role in societies.
Another noteworthy justification is that -. This facilitates individuals to get water more efficiently and accomplish superior outcomes. Additionally, free water supply empowers individuals to save their money. As a result, people witness remarkable progress in their low expanses. To illustrate that if charges applied on water supply, it will effect their income. This example clearly highlights that how free water supply contributes significantly towards people. Therefore, this significantly reinforces this argument that -.
In conclusion, it is argued by some that water should not be supply free of charge because may result in certain issues, I firmly believe that it can offer far more advantages. This is primarily because it enables individuals to freely access to water and improve their wellbeing, thereby fostering greater productivity and effectiveness. Therefore, free water supply should be actively promoted in modern society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a position agreeing that water should be provided free of charge, and presents reasons to support this view. However, the development of ideas is hampered by incomplete sentences and missing text, particularly marked by dashes in the third body paragraph. While the main stance is clear throughout, the arguments in the second and third body paragraphs tend to over-generalise and lack fully extended, cohesive examples. The mention of rural areas lacking water is relevant, but the overall execution falls into Band 5 territory because several ideas are limited, under-developed, or left entirely blank due to incomplete drafting. To achieve a higher score, every paragraph must contain fully fleshed-out arguments with robust, detailed supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays a basic overall organisation with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is significantly disrupted by incomplete sentences, such as 'Another noteworthy justification is that -.' and '...this significantly reinforces this argument that -.', which break the flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used at the start of paragraphs (e.g., 'To commence that', 'Another noteworthy justification'), but some phrases are unnatural or inaccurate. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical transitions fail to smoothly connect the points. To improve, the student must ensure all sentences are complete and use cohesive ties more naturally and flexibly across sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'contemporary society', 'wellbeing', and 'pivotal role'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the essay, such as 'water should be supply' instead of supplied, 'From my perspectives' instead of perspective, 'fulfill their daily water needs' with grammar issues, and 'low expanses' instead of expenses. These inaccuracies occasionally cause confusion or force the reader to pause. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of less common lexical items with greater precision and correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The essay exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing auxiliary verbs ('Government should be provide free supply'), incorrect verb forms ('water should not be supply'), and incomplete sentences where clauses are abruptly cut off with dashes. Punctuation and sentence construction errors are prominent and sometimes impede communication by leaving thoughts unfinished. To improve, the student must focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb complementation, eliminating fragments, and increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences.
