Student answer (Band 5.5)
Availability of pure water is a necessity and every human has right to it. Clean water should be available to every house despite of any money. I strongly agree to this and I will provide my viewpoint in this essay.
Every human being in this world is valuable and has every right to live according to his own will but when they have to suffer even for basic necessities of life you often began to think is humanity still alive or not?. There are many regions in this world where people are deprived of clean water and they don't get to drink water twice a day. For instance, many third world countries have this problem in majority underdeveloped areas all over the years and they absolutely do nothing about it. Pure water is a mere need and if people don't drink clean water they can develop different health hazards including pneumonia and diarrhoea.
Furthermore, if water is available for people mistakenly, then this same water is eventually not free. People have to pay cost to drink the water. For example; In today's society there are many areas where people are being charged for having clean water at their homes while some people have this facility without any cost. This also lead to social inequality between people and raise serious concerns among the people. Therefore, for water to be available to everyone, people should gather together and ask for their rights from the government officials. Non profit organisations should help the individuals solve their problems. Purified plants and cleaning systems should be installed publicly for this matter and every house should be registered for clean water supply.
In conclusion, I believe that clean water should be provided to each individual of this society so they can live a safe and healthy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student presents a clear position throughout the essay, strongly agreeing that every home should have free access to clean water. All parts of the prompt are addressed, and the response includes relevant examples, such as mentioning developing regions and health hazards like pneumonia and diarrhoea. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or rely on broad generalisations, such as claiming underdeveloped areas do absolutely nothing about the water crisis. The conclusion concisely reiterates the main stance. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Furthermore, if water is available for people mistakenly' feel awkward and disrupt the logical flow. Referencing can also be unclear, such as the pronoun shift in the second paragraph ('every human being... when they have to suffer'). Cohesive devices are present but used with some inaccuracy, placing this response securely in Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'necessity', 'deprived', 'inequality', and 'organisations'. There are several noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'available to every house despite of any money' instead of 'free of charge', and 'Pure water is a mere need' instead of 'a basic need'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word choices occasionally impede natural expression. These limitations point directly to a Band 5.5 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic structures. However, frequent grammatical errors occur throughout the text, including missing articles ('has right to it', 'pay cost'), incorrect prepositions ('agree to this'), and awkward phrasing ('if water is available for people mistakenly'). While these errors rarely completely obscure meaning, they are persistent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a Band 6, fitting the Band 5 descriptor where frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
