Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is a basic need for every individuals for survival. Access of clean water is the fundamental right for every people so there should be a free water supply in each house. This essay will articulate the reason of my disagreement in forthcoming paragraphs.
To commence with the first reason, people often waste too much water because there is no cost for using water. To be more precise, people do not care about things which they get free due to that majority individuals often over use of water in certain activities like washing dishes or house etc. For instance, some people might leave the tap running while washing their cars or use too much water for gardening. In contrast, having a small water bill can encourage people to use water more carefully. This is particularly important in areas where water is limited. As a result, charging for water can encourage people to use this limited natural resource responsibly.
Another compelling reason would be, small amount of money is needed for the government to supply clean water. To Further elaborate this, the government needs money for constructing pipelines or a establishing water plants where water is being cleaned. If there is no extra money in the usage of water then government may increase other tex. To exemplify, in the end of every month individuals get water bill and they have to pay that. This money can assist government in several ways. Consequently, paying little amount of money will eventually help every citizen as they can access clear water easily.
To recapitulate, I firmly believe that short amount of money is required to stop wasting of clean water and also the government can utilize more funds in a making or a repairing pipelines.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear stance against free water supply in homes. The position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and supported with logical explanations and examples, such as mentioning how free water leads to overuse when washing cars or gardening, and how user fees help governments fund infrastructure like pipelines. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise slightly, and the development is occasionally basic, fitting comfortably into Band 6.0. The essay covers the task adequately, presenting a well-defined point of view with sufficient expansion of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is arranged coherently with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as water conservation and government funding. Cohesive devices are employed, including transitional phrases like 'To commence with the first reason', 'To be more precise', and 'In contrast'. However, referencing and cohesion can sometimes feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of formulaic transitional phrases. Overall progression is visible, and the logical organization supports the clarity of the arguments, satisfying the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'fundamental right', 'compelling reason', and 'natural resource responsibly'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'every individuals' instead of 'every individual', 'Access of clean water' instead of 'Access to clean water', and 'increase other tex' instead of 'increase other taxes'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication, which aligns with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and relative clauses. There are, however, frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the response. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every individuals for survival', 'government needs money for constructing pipelines or a establishing water plants'), missing prepositions, and awkward phrasing ('short amount of money is required'). While these errors are noticeable and require some effort from the reader, they do not severely impede communication. The control of grammar corresponds to a Band 5.5 performance.
