IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Pure water need is very essential for every human being living in this world. Some people argue that water council should provide fresh water to every houses free of cost. I fully agree with this point because clean water is birth right for every individual irrespective of whether they belong to lower class, middle class or higher class of society.

One strong reason in support of this point is that purchasing power may differ among the people of the world, however it should not restrain the poor class people to drink water which is very essential to stay alive. Higher class people, for instance, can purchase water even if it becomes costly, although it will become a huge adversity for the weaker section of the society to purchase it or it can be said that it may become the reason of their death. some houses are existing in few parts of the world where there is still lack of fresh water and it is clear now that they are suffering to death because of that.

Another addition to this viewpoint is that clean water is crucial for daily activities such as cooking food, bathing, and other household chores. If water is provided without any charge, it would allow the below poverty people to fulfil their basic human needs like eating and keeping themselves clean. Furthermore, it would give them boost to face other problems, by allowing them to be presentable infornt of other people in terms of hygiene. Individual who is clean, for example, can face the employer with full confidence thus giving him opportunity to have upward social mobility. So it can be understand that water forms the basic of every other aspects of life of the people.

In Conclusion, clean water is the utmost important thing for every individual in this world and no one should be restricted from having it just becuase he is not capable to buy it. I believe it should be provided free to every person so that they can have some standard of living.
