IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.
Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is said that access to clean water is a basic human right and every home should allow a water supply, free of charge. Hence, it is an amazing idea and it benefits the public most, but this perception have drawbacks too, which will be further discussed in this essay.
Initially, clean water is an important basic needs for human life, where the water is used in every work, such as cooking food, washing clothes, drinking and other household activities. Whether, the demand of clean water is increasing towards public, where they are requesting the local government to provided it free of charge, which was a effective demand because clean water is required in every work. Furthermore, clean water has several benefits, such as it is essential for human body to be hydrated, in cooking food and washing clothes. All this activities requires clean water because dirty water is not effective because it provides contaminated diseases, unhealthy lifestyle and so on.
On the other hand, access to clean water isn't possible for government because the government only have limited resources of clean water and it is not possible to provide clean water free of charge. In our developing countries like Nepal, the government doesn't have the modern tools and equipments to filter dirty water and make it clean.
All the above-discussed assertions lead to the conclusion that although the access for clean water is a effective demand, it is not possible to provide it free of charge. So, in my opinion, it would be wise enough to say that the government needs to provide clean water with some water taxes, which will be benefit for government to develop or buy modern tools and equipments.
