Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is a statement that every human should have acses to clean water. It's his basic right and a free of cost water supply should be provided to every home. I strongly agree with this statement because of it's benefits on our health and economy.
The first reason behind my oppinion is the benefits of using clean water on our health. Nowadays many diseases are spreading widely due to the use of dirty water. When we drink dirty water, the germs in the water come through our food pipe to our digestion system and weakens our digestion system. So, our body did not get proper nutritions from the food and we get sick. But when we drink clean water it, we prevent the germs getting from dirty water. For example, in a recent research scientists observed that people who drinks pure water are rarely get sick and enjoy a good health.
Another reason for choosing this is the reduction in exportation of pure water from foreign countries. Nowadays, many countries are expoting clean water from other countries and it is very costly. Even the price of this water in the market is that much high that poor people can't afford it. Only rich people are enjoying this facility. So the governments should stop exporting water from abroad. Instead they should take some serious steps to purify the water of their own land. So that everyone can drink pure water irrespective of their wealth.
In conclusion, i believe that access to clean water is a basic need of every human and they should get it free at their homes because it can improve their health and even the economy of one's country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a strong position that free clean water should be provided to every home, and supports this with two main arguments concerning health and the economy. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas suffers from some over-generalisation and logical leaps, particularly in the third paragraph where the issue of free water provision is conflated with the 'exportation of pure water from foreign countries.' While the health argument is well-intended, the reasoning regarding digestion and nutrition remains somewhat basic and under-developed. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are addressed, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is divided into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, demonstrating an overall coherent arrangement. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'The first reason behind my oppinion', 'Another reason for choosing this', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as 'it, we prevent the germs getting from dirty water' and 'reduction in exportation of pure water', which reflect some lack of smooth progression. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate for a Band 6.0 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating key concepts such as 'basic human right', 'digestive system', and 'irrespective of their wealth'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'acses' instead of access, 'oppinion', 'nutritions', 'expoting', and 'that much high'. These errors show limited control over less common vocabulary and spelling conventions. Although the errors do not severely impede communication, their frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching Band 6.5, placing it firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional and relative structures such as 'When we drink dirty water, the germs in the water come...' and 'people who drinks pure water are rarely get sick'. Grammatical control is inconsistent, featuring noticeable errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people who drinks', 'body did not get'), tense inconsistency, and awkward phrasings ('are rarely get sick'). While some complex sentences are formed, attempts at more complex structures often contain errors. Communication is maintained despite the errors, justifying a Band 5.5 score.
