IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.
Do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clean water is a fundamental human right, meaning that every household should be provided with free water supply. I whole-heartedly support this view because safe drinking water is an essential for life, local governments or authorities ough to deliver it to every home.
The primary justification for providing free domestic water the prevention of human health and human dignity. When access to clean water is restricted by cost, some poverty-stricken households are forced to ration their water usage or turn to contaminated alternatives. This inevitably leads to outbrakes to waterborne diseases such as typhoid and cholera, which place a massive financial burden on public healthcare centers. By supplying clean drinkable water source to every household, these drastic situations and illness can be prevented.
Furthermore, water distribution should be treated as an essential public utility funded by progressive taxation rather than individual usage fees. Essencial services like primary education, basic healthcare, law enforcement are already provided free of cost by many societies because they benefit the collective good. Viewing water as commercial commodity takes a toll on the already less income of poor households. Therefore, providing water from taxes indicates financial equality and obligation to protect citizens.
In conclusion, I firmly maintain my stance that water is a basic human necessity and should be provided free of cost to every individual by government. This ensures less health related breakouts and supports the greater good of a nation by preventing extreme financial positions. There are many advantages to the people and the nation altogether by supplying free water to citizens and I think it should be a serious concern for thr future.
