Student answer (Band 6.5)
Water is the basic and primary necessity of human life. Many people believe that it is one of the main responsibilities of the government to ensure pure water access to all citizens of the state without any payment of money. I highly agree with this statement as water is a natural source of energy for humans and free non-contaminated water is a natural right of every human existing in the world.
First and foremost, human bodies function properly when they are consuming adequate amount of water per day. Average human should drink 8 to 10 glass of water to ensure healthy life. Also, all functions of human body are associated with healthy water intake. Existance of water on earth is a natural phenomenon which takes place through the process of water cycle. Consequently, it is easily justifiable that all individuals have equal right over this natural energy source and there is no other alternative of it that can provide life and functionality to human bodies.
Moreover, it should be a duty of the state to make sure that all people of the society are able to reach water free of contamination and charges. Many governments of the world are taking initiatives to provide water to all regions of the state without any discrimination. For instance, giving a free water supply to every household is one of those primary initiatives. It will also assist people to prevent dehydration and other diseases linked with less intake of water.
In conclusion, I believe that pure water without any contamination is individual, social and legal right of all humans of the world. Various governments are introducing actions against water defficieny for humans in the world. Free water supply to all houses of the society is one of those actions and more pure water projects should be launched to ensure health of all humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear position that water is a basic human right and should be provided free of charge by the government. The writer presents relevant arguments, such as the physiological need for hydration and the role of the state in public health. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive, particularly the emphasis on natural origin and basic health benefits, which keeps the development at a Band 6.5 or 7 level. The arguments are extended with examples like water supply initiatives, though they remain somewhat general rather than thoroughly explored. Overall, the task is answered adequately with a consistent point of view throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a generally clear overall progression with appropriate paragraphing. Each body paragraph has a distinct focus, starting with health benefits, moving to governmental duties, and finishing with a summary conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, although some referencing is slightly mechanical (e.g., 'Existance of water on earth is a natural phenomenon'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points, but transitions between sentences occasionally feel abrupt. Cohesion overall is logical and easy to follow, aligning well with the Band 6.5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including topic-specific terms like 'dehydration', 'contamination', 'physiological', and 'public health'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, though certain word choices and collocations are awkward or inaccurate, such as 'natural source of energy' instead of 'natural resource' and 'defficieny' (spelling error). Other minor lexical slips occur, such as 'adequate amount' without an article or plural form ('adequate amounts'). Nevertheless, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's meaning clearly without impeding communication, representing solid Band 6 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The writer attempts complex structures using subordinate clauses ('Many people believe that...', 'while governments are introducing...'), but these are sometimes marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent missing articles ('Average human should drink', 'is individual, social and legal right') and pluralisation errors ('adequate amount of water per day', 'glass of water'). Punctuation is generally fine, but structural inaccuracies persist. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band, making Band 6 an accurate reflection of grammatical control.
