Student answer (Band 6.0)

Consuming filtered water is a right of every human being and providing water supply to every household free of cost is beneficial for people to keep diseases at bay. However, I firmly agree with this view which i will discuss in the forthcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, supplying water free of charge would help communities to maintain a better public health. Access to clean drinking water can reduce water-borne diseases like cholera, diarrhea and dysentriy. People can maintain their health which results in productivity and a person can do their tasks in an efficient manner and thereby become the useful member of the society. For example, if every individual have access to clean drinking water can drink water safely without thinking about its quality.

Furthermore, it is advantageous to every houshold if government will supply clean water. The deprived societies cannot afford pure water and providing the water supply to every home will result in healthier society. Consequantly, bridging the gap between rich and poor people. Moreover, poor societies can focus on other basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter.

On the other hand, although water supply is beneficial for everyone, supplying water without charge will lead to wastage so, people cannot understand the value of a natural resource. Therefore, providing it with rules can be better.

In conclusion, water is a basic necessity of every individual providing it free of charge can be beneficial for maintaing their health and reducing the gap between rich and poor while, it will not lead to wastage of water with certain restrictions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both sides of the issue before confirming agreement with the premise that free water supply is beneficial. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the arguments regarding public health and economic relief for deprived communities are relevant, some points are under-developed or briefly stated. For example, the explanation of how safe water leads to productivity lacks specific expansion, and the counter-argument regarding wastage in the fourth paragraph is abruptly introduced and lacks full elaboration. To move to a higher level, you should extend and support all your main ideas with deeper reasoning and more fully developed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different angles, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transition markers are occasionally awkward, such as starting the final paragraph with 'In conclusion, water is a basic necessity of every individual providing it free of charge...', which creates a run-on structure and unclear logical links. Referencing is also slightly unclear in places. To achieve a higher band, ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and smoothly, and that sentence boundaries are managed precisely to improve overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'water-borne diseases', 'deprived societies', and 'natural resource'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors, spelling mistakes, and issues with word formation that prevent a higher score. For instance, 'dysentriy' is misspelled, 'houshold' contains a spelling error, and phrases like 'keeping diseases at bay. However,' lack proper spacing and punctuation. Additionally, 'Consequantly' is incorrectly spelled. To reach the next level, you need to expand your control of less common lexical items, ensure greater precision in word choice and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional clauses ('if every individual have access') and concessive clauses. There are some grammatical errors and punctuation issues present throughout the text, although they rarely impede overall communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every individual have access' instead of 'has'), missing articles ('as a right' or 'to a better public health'), and run-on sentences in the introduction ('keeping diseases at bay. However, I firmly agree with this view which i will discuss'). To achieve a higher band, you should aim for a greater proportion of error-free sentences and tighten your control over articles and verb forms within complex structures.
