Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water means life and people cannot live properly without water. In every activity water is a fundamental thing which is really important. Some individuals say access to clean drinking water is a fundamental human right and every house should have a supply of fresh water and it should be free of cost. I strongly agree with this statement and this essay will cover the basic information why I agree with this statement.

First and foremost, I agree with this statement because people are suffering from various types of disease by consuiming water which is not clean. It is a severe issue all over the world where people cannot get clear water. People must have to consume water in their everyday life. Moreover, people have to use water for their cooking. If water is not clean then having that food could be cause of severe disease. For example, a lot of people are suffering from diarreah by consuming impure water.

Moreover, water is one of the most important thing in a person's life. People have not any alternative of water that they can consume. Pure water is very important because of health consciousness. People need clean water in every activity such as cooking, consuming water, making drinks etc. Government should take a step to provide every citizen clean water. In every house they should provide a water supply which can pull up clean water from deep into the soil. In addition, it should be free of charge because every citizen doesn't have ability to pay for free water. So, government should take a initiative to ensure that every citizen can have pure and clean water.

In conclusion, I agree with this statement because without clean water we are nothing cause without water we cannot do anything properly. Only 3% of water is drinkable in this world and there is a lot of water deep into the soil which is fresh and pure. So, government should take a step to provide water supply in every home without any charge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stand in favour of free clean water for every home. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed, which keeps the score at this level. While the writer mentions health risks like diarrhoea and the problem of water scarcity, these points are repetitive and lack detailed expansion or varied supporting evidence. The conclusion merely restates the initial position without adding further insight. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to extend main ideas with specific, well-reasoned examples, perhaps discussing the economic implications of free water policies versus government responsibilities in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organization, utilizing four paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, as the arguments tend to circle back to the same points about health and government intervention rather than moving forward logically. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'Moreover' and 'First and foremost'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs can be mechanical and disjointed. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure a smoother logical flow between sentences and employ a more varied range of cohesive ties to connect ideas naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that reflect a restricted lexical range. There are several spelling and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'consuiming' instead of 'consuming', 'clear water' instead of 'clean water', and 'diarreah' instead of 'diarrhoea'. The student frequently repeats basic terms like 'water', 'clean', 'important', and 'government' because of a lack of synonyms and paraphrasing skills. To improve lexical resource, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of less common vocabulary and demonstrate better control over word forms, collocations, and accurate spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response shows a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple forms and frequently faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty or distraction for the reader, including missing articles ('Government should take a step'), pluralisation errors, and awkward prepositional usage. For instance, phrases like 'people have not any alternative of water' and 'every citizen doesn't have ability to pay' display persistent structural weaknesses. To move up to a higher band, the writer must produce a greater variety of complex sentence structures with higher accuracy, while polishing basic grammatical patterns like subject-verb agreement and article use.
