Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is a basic human right to access clean water. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.

I have agreed with it because the water was a very important part of human history from the very begining.

In Medical point of view, clean water was very important for human health as it directly effects the stomach. Drinking dirty and muddy water may have hamful effect on your body. Numerous bacteria were present in dirty and muddy water which contained harmful diseases. Hepatitis B was one of the disease caused by using dirty water. Polio was also caused by drinking dirty water with no vachine. Clean water was the need of every human which should be provided by government.

Government should provide the purified and clean water to every person in their areas. That should be provided free of cost because everyone deserved it. If purified water was not provided to people, it will caused rise in harmful diseases. As we know every person has its own importance and way to deliver to society. If anyone get catched by disease, it effects the whole society in different aspects.

In my opinion, clean and purified water was needed by every human. It is one of the very important task and responsibility of government to provide everyone purified water. This will not only help the people's health but also to the society. This will help government to prevent their people from all the diseases caused by drinking unpurified water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that clean water is a basic right and should be provided free of charge by the government. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that dirty water causes conditions like Hepatitis B and polio without a vaccine, but these points are stated rather than extended logically to fully support the broader argument about free provision. While the main stance is discernible, the reasoning tends to be repetitive, particularly when discussing the societal impacts of disease in the third paragraph. To reach a higher standard, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with deeper elaboration, perhaps by considering economic arguments or logistical challenges surrounding public utility management.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation present in the response, featuring distinct paragraph breaks that separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. However, the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically and repetitively, such as the frequent starting of sentences with 'This' or 'That' without varied transitional links. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences can feel disjointed. To improve cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of linking words and ensure that logical relationships between sentences and paragraphs are clearly established and guided by appropriate cohesive markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring a limited range with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation. Examples include phrases like 'Medical point of view', 'with no vachine', and 'get catched by disease'. Spelling errors such as 'begining', 'hamful', 'vachine', and 'caused' (used instead of 'cause') occur throughout the text. These lexical limitations and errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To move beyond this level, the student must expand their vocabulary range, incorporate less common lexical items with greater precision, and pay closer attention to standard spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a limited range of sentence structures, primarily consisting of simple sentences and basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to numerous grammatical errors, particularly regarding tense consistency and modal usage, such as 'clean water was very important' and 'if purified water was not provided... it will caused'. There are also frequent issues with article usage, subject-verb agreement, and pluralisation, exemplified by 'everyone deserved it' and 'in different aspects'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and obscure meaning. Achieving a higher standard will require mastering complex sentence patterns and significantly reducing basic grammatical inaccuracies.
