Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is basic necessity of the humans it is essential that every house have free of cost availability of pure water (without contamination) it is fundamental right of humans. I strongly agreed with the statement because water is key element and under-privileged can't affort to pay for the basic need.

Initially, water was available to humans in abundant for free with the passage of time due to increase in population, demand for the water greatly increased, which caused scarcity of water. After that, people nowdays are getting charged for water, but still whether water is clean or not is still remain unclear. Water is basic need for the human survival it is the key element. lack of availability of clean drinking water cause prevelance of disease among community. For instance, many examples were observed in recent years due to consumption of un-hygenic water, community get cholera and other related pandemics.

Moreover, water is a source of survival for the humans and other living beings across the globe, if people get charged for the water under-privileged community will be forced to drink contaminated water for survival. Furthermore, it is mandatory to make suitable water arrangement for the humans by the nation representatives by making tube-wells, filteration plants specially in rural areas so, everyone in the community have access to clean water for drinking and house chores. For instance, this will also help in boost of country economy because cit will decrease in occurance of pandemic due to poor water quality.

To conclude, water is source of survival for the humans, if it will be free of cost it will results in less prevalence of diseases and help in economy boost as well. I strongly believe that it should be available abundantly to every community free of the cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout, stating that water is a fundamental right and should be provided free of charge. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the prevention of disease and the economic benefits of clean water access, fulfilling the core requirements. However, some ideas are under-developed or touch upon points without sufficient extension. For example, the mention of 'cholera and other related pandemics' is stated briefly without fully exploring how free public supply directly mitigates this on a broader societal level. To move to a higher level, the writer should ensure that every main idea is supported by deeper explanations, specific consequences, or more thoroughly reasoned arguments rather than broad generalizations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and logical paragraphing, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing specific points, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is at times faulty or mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transition markers like 'Initially,' 'Moreover,' and 'To conclude,' and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'if people get charged for the water under-privileged community will be forced to drink contaminated water,' where pronoun referencing and logical links between clauses feel abrupt. Additionally, sentence boundaries are sometimes blurred by run-on structures without adequate punctuation. To achieve a higher standard, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's core message regarding basic human rights and water access. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'under-privileged,' 'contamination,' and 'scarcity,' demonstrating some awareness of topic-specific language. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'basic necessity of the humans,' 'affort' instead of afford, 'un-hygenic,' 'filteration,' 'occurance,' and awkward phrasing like 'nation representatives' instead of government representatives or authorities. These lexical errors and awkward collocations reflect a limited control of less common lexical items, preventing the writing from reaching a higher band where precision and natural style are more consistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting multi-clause structures such as 'if people get charged for the water under-privileged community will be forced to drink contaminated water for survival.' However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('Water is basic necessity'), comma splices, run-on sentences, and issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every house have'). Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur regularly across the text, distinguishing this level from one with a higher proportion of error-free sentences. To improve grammatically, the writer needs to focus on sentence boundaries, accurate use of articles, and stricter adherence to subject-verb agreement rules.
