Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the past, there were no any opportunity to get clean water. Approach to pure water is basic human need for survival. Water supply system should be provided free of cost in every home. I strongly agree with this statement. I will explain the same with some reasons and examples.
Firstly, most people suffered from disease due to contaminated water. Water are acidic that affect their health. They have no sources for water filtration. For example, people of underdeveloped areas are poor. They have no money to buy tools which is useful to filter water. Secondly, water supply create happiness on their faces. Some people have no water not only for drinking but also for other purposes. For instance, in deserts areas, people have no enough water to use. They dig well for water. Thirdly, it is basic human right. Everyone needs water for their survival. For example, some people take water from shops. If they are poor, they would not afford water expenses. Then they lose hoop and die.
However, it is necessary for everyone having water supply system. If water supply system is free of charge then we prevent from several difficulties. Furthermore, everyone has chances to get clean water. It is also crucial for people physical health, because when they are healthy they can work in better way.
In my conclusion, government should provide water supply system for every home free of charge. People deserve to get their basic human rights. Water is basic need of individuals so it must be provided.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that clean water should be provided free of charge, presenting several reasons to support this view. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive, reflecting a partial treatment of the task. For instance, the points about water being a basic human right and the impact of contaminated water on health are introduced but remain under-developed, relying on brief, simplistic examples such as people in underdeveloped areas or deserts having no water. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support each main idea with more elaborated arguments, detailed explanations, and fully articulated examples rather than repeating similar statements about basic survival.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some organization with basic paragraphing and mechanical cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'However'. Despite this structure, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and ideas tend to jump between health, poverty, and human rights without a smooth conceptual flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in vague transitions like 'I will explain the same with some reasons and examples' and repetitive structural patterns. To improve, the writer should ensure that ideas follow a logical sequence within and across paragraphs, employing a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and precisely rather than relying on a rigid, formulaic list format.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'Approach to pure water' instead of 'Access to pure water', 'water supply create happiness on their faces', 'deserts areas' instead of 'desert areas', 'dig well' instead of 'dig wells', and 'lose hoop' instead of 'lose hope'. The range of vocabulary is restricted, relying heavily on basic, repetitive terms. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, incorporate less common vocabulary with greater precision, and pay closer attention to collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, primarily relying on simple sentences with frequent errors when attempting more complex patterns. There are numerous grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Water are acidic', 'water supply create'), missing articles ('Approach to pure water', 'is basic human need'), incorrect prepositions ('in deserts areas'), and tense or structure errors ('there were no any opportunity', 'everyone having water supply system', 'we prevent from several difficulties'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and reveal a lack of control over basic grammatical structures. To progress, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of error-free complex sentences and carefully monitor basic rules of grammar and punctuation.
