Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is a very important topic to discuss. Water is a great blessing of Allah it is very important to everyone even their is a humans, animals, insects, birds, and also for all living being. It is the basic need of all the creations. Nobody can live without water.

So in every place clean water is the most important need of every being and its our goverenment duty to deliver the clean water in every city or area. I think not only water is nedeed however clean water is essential. In many cities or areas in our country their in not clean water available. Dirty water is deliver to most of the cities, due to this its cause of many dangerous dieases like fever, stomach problems, malaria and many other dieases. People face many problems due to this. Water is our basic need it is our goverenment duty to provide clean water to peoples.

It is our right that in every home have water supply which is free of cost because it is against our relegion that people pay for water. Water is not the thing which we buy it is our basic need. So I think it should be free of cost and deliver to every home by our goverenment. Good and pure water system is one of the great thing which shows our country the best and rich country.

At the end, I only say that water is the basic need of everybody so our goverenment should not pay for it however it supply in every home. So that peoples spend their lifes happily and easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that clean water should be a free, government-provided right. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the argument relies heavily on the assertion that water is a basic need and that dirty water causes diseases like 'fever, stomach problems, and malaria', but these points are under-developed without broader exploration of economic or infrastructural challenges. While the writer covers the main parts of the task, the reasoning lacks extension, leading to a superficial treatment of the topic. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with relevant, well-supported arguments rather than restating the same premise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organization, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding remark, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Paragraphing is erratic; the second paragraph is overly long and crams multiple distinct ideas together, such as government duty, water quality, and disease. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and repetitive manner, relying on basic connectors like 'So', 'And', and 'At the end'. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun shifts and abrupt transitions between sentences, making the flow disjointed. To improve, the writer should ensure each paragraph has a single clear focus and use a wider, more accurate variety of cohesive links to connect ideas logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, utilizing common words such as 'water', 'need', 'clean', and 'country' excessively throughout the text. There are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, collocation, and word form that occasionally cause strain for the reader, such as 'goverenment', 'deliver to', 'relegion', and 'dieases'. The writer attempts some less common phrasing, such as 'blessing' and 'pure water system', but these are hindered by frequent spelling and form inaccuracies. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical range significantly, employ appropriate collocations, and demonstrate control over word formation and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('its our goverenment duty', 'their in not clean water'), missing articles ('is deliver to most of the cities'), incorrect prepositions, and poor punctuation control. These frequent errors often cause difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning. To improve, the writer needs to focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring accurate verb forms and tense consistency, and reducing the frequency of fundamental grammatical mistakes.
