Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is a very important topic to discuss. Water is a great blessing of Allah, and it is very important to everyone even their are a humans, animals, insects, birds, and also for all living being. It is the basic need of all the creations. Nobody can live without water.

So in every place clean water is the most important need of every being and its our goverenment duty to deliver the clean water in every city or area. I think not only water is nedeed but clean water is essential. In many cities or areas in our country their in not clean water available. Dirty water is deliver to most of the cities, due to this its cause of many dangerous dieases like fever, stomach problems, malaria and many other dieases. People face many problems due to this. Water is our basic need it is our goverenment duty to provide clean water to peoples.

It is our right that in every home have water supply which is free of cost because it is against our relegion that people pay for water. Water is not the thing which we buy it is our basic need. So I think it should be free of cost and deliver to every home by our goverenment. Good and pure water system is one of the great thing which shows our country the best and rich country.

At the end, I only say that water is the basic need of everybody so our goverenment should not pay for it and it supply in every home. So that peoples spend their lifes happily and easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance that clean water should be provided free of charge by the government, supporting this with reasons such as health benefits and basic human needs. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive, as seen in the continuous reiteration that water is a basic need without expanding deeply into economic or social implications. The position is expressed, but the arguments remain somewhat generalized and under-developed, typical of this level. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to extend arguments with fully elaborated supporting points and more nuanced examples rather than restating the same core idea throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic organizational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding remark. However, the overall progression lacks smooth links between ideas, making the essay feel disjointed in places. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'So' and 'And' to start sentences or link clauses. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive markers naturally, ensure logical transitions between sentences, and organize paragraphs so that each focuses on a distinct, clearly linked sub-theme.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple words such as 'water', 'basic', 'need', and 'good'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the text, such as 'goverenment', 'nedeed', 'dieases', and 'relegion'. These lexical shortcomings and frequent errors strain the reader at times and demonstrate a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, incorporate less common lexical items with correct spelling and collocations, and avoid repeatedly recycling the exact same terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'their in not clean water available', 'people pay'), missing or incorrect articles (e.g., 'its our goverenment duty'), and incorrect prepositions or clause structures (e.g., 'so our goverenment should not pay for it and it supply in every home'). These errors occur frequently and can cause some difficulty and confusion for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to improve control over basic grammatical patterns, punctuation, and plurals while attempting a wider variety of accurate complex sentence forms.
