Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is a very important topic to discuss. Water is a great blessing of Allah, and it is very important to everyone even there are humans, animals, insects, birds, and also for all living beings. It is the basic need of all the creations. Nobody can live without water.

So in every place clean water is the most important need of every being and its our goverenment duty to deliver the clean water in every city or area. I think not only water is nedeed but clean water is essential. In many cities or areas in our country their in not clean water available. Dirty water is deliver to most of the cities, due to this its cause of many dangerous dieases like fever, stomach problems, malaria and many other dieases. People face many problems due to this. Water is our basic need it is our goverenment duty to provide clean water to peoples.

It is our right that in every home have water supply which is free of cost because it is against our relegion that people pay for water. Water is not the thing which we buy it is our basic need. So I think it should be free of cost and deliver to every home by our goverenment. Good and pure water system is one of the great thing which shows our country the best and rich country.

At the end, I only say that water is the basic need of everybody so our goverenment should not pay for it and it supply in every home. So that peoples spend their lifes happily and easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that water should be provided free of charge by the government as a basic human right. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument that dirty water causes diseases such as 'fever, stomach problems, malaria' is introduced, but it is not fully extended or supported with broader socio-economic implications or detailed reasoning. Similarly, the point regarding religious perspectives ('it is against our relegion that people pay for water') is stated rather than explored in depth. While the writer's position is discernible throughout, the ideas tend to circle back to the same fundamental points about water being a basic need without substantial elaboration, placing this part of the writing squarely within the expected range for partial task coverage and limited development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic overall organisation with an introduction, body points, and a concluding remark starting with 'At the end'. However, there is a distinct lack of clear overall progression, as ideas tend to jump between health impacts, religious views, and governmental duties without smooth transitional bridges. Cohesive devices are used minimally or repetitively, such as the frequent reliance on 'So' to initiate sentences and clauses, which creates a mechanical feel. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks precision; for example, the second paragraph bundles multiple distinct thoughts together rather than separating them into focused thematic units. Referencing and substitution are also basic, occasionally making the logical connections between sentences somewhat opaque for the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic. The writer employs basic terms like 'important need', 'clean water', and 'basic human right', but struggles with precise word choice and word formation. There are noticeable errors such as 'goverenment' (spelling), 'relegion' (spelling), 'dieases' (spelling), and 'deliver to most of the cities' where the passive form 'delivered' is needed. Collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'our goverenment should not pay for it' when meaning the citizens should not pay, or 'rich country' in place of a developed or prosperous nation. These recurring lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core message remains understandable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination with conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. When attempts are made at more complex structures, they frequently contain errors, such as in the clause 'even there are humans, animals, insects, birds' or 'in every home have water supply which is free of cost' where the verb agreement and prepositional patterns are faulty. Frequent errors are present across the text, including article omissions ('it is our goverenment duty'), pluralization issues ('to peoples'), and tense or verb form inaccuracies ('Dirty water is deliver'). These persistent grammatical errors require the reader to decode the intended meaning on multiple occasions.
