Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is a very important topic to discuss. Water is a great blessing of Allah, and it is very important to everyone even there are humans, animals, insects, birds, and also for all living beings. It is the basic need of all the creations. Nobody can live without water.

So in everywhere clean water is the most important need of every being and it's our government duty to deliver clean water in every city or area. I think water is no only needed but clean water is essential. In many cities or areas in our country there is not clean water available. Dirty water is delivered to most of the cities. Due to this it causes many dangerous diseases like fever, stomach problems, malaria and many other diseases. People face many problems due to this. Water is our basic need it is our goverenment duty to provide clean water for people.

It is our right that in every home have water supply which is free of cost because it is against our relegion that people pay for water. Water is not the thing which we buy it is our basic need. So I think it should be free of cost and deliver to every home by our goverenment. Good and pure water system is one of the great thing which shows our country the best and rich country.

At the end, I only say that water is the basic need of everybody so our goverenment should not pay for it and it supply in every home. So that peoples spend their lifes happily and easily

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether clean water should be provided free of charge, but the position is developed through limited and under-developed ideas. The writer expresses a clear view that water should be free because it is a basic human right and a religious duty, mentioning the dangers of dirty water such as 'fever, stomach problems, malaria'. However, these points remain largely repetitive without deeper extension or varied supporting examples. The discussion touches upon governmental responsibility and health impacts, but some parts of the task, such as the economic feasibility of free public utilities, are glossed over or omitted, keeping the depth of the response restricted to a limited level of task fulfillment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows some organization with a basic introduction, body paragraphs addressing health and religion, and a concluding remark, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, relying heavily on basic conjunctions like 'and', 'so', and 'because' to link clauses. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between sentences and paragraphs feel disjointed and mechanical, as seen in the sudden shift from health issues in the second paragraph to religious arguments in the third. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to vague subjects, which impacts the overall logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer uses simple, repetitive vocabulary such as 'important', 'water', 'basic need', and 'government'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'goverenment', 'relegion', 'deliver' instead of 'delivered', and 'our goverenment should not pay for it' when meaning citizens should not pay. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are generally unsuccessful due to spelling errors and awkward phrasing like 'great blessing of Allah' or 'best and rich country', which restrict the range of expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing displays a very limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple sentences and repetitive patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, such as 'Water is a great blessing of Allah, and it is very important to everyone even there are humans, animals, insects, birds, and also for all living beings.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, article usage, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, including 'in everywhere', 'it is our government duty', 'in every home have water supply', and 'so that peoples spend their lifes'. These frequent errors require the reader to decode the meaning and cause noticeable difficulty throughout the text.
