Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays the pure mineral water is available but not free of cost, although we know that it is a basic need for all human civilization. I firmly believe that it should be easy to access for all individuals without any cost, it makes our environment healthy and increased our economic growth.

First of all, if everybody drinks mineral water all the disease keep away our population. This makes our envirment healthy and clean. It is said that there are many diseases are usually comes from water nowaday because of development. Humans grow day by day but they can't see the destruction what they have done, so at least we should provide pure mineral water to all individuals. For example, if government provided the clean water without any ups and downs, the people who live there automatically be healthy and keep away from various types of waterborne disease.

Secondly, they supply of mineral water helps the people to work more, because they feel healthier than the before. For this point, it means that it directly increases our economic growth and makes a country show it place in global community. It also has great effect on our life span which is another factor of success. For example, if everybody drink healthily they are able to work more in entire life.

In a nutshell, i would like to say that if the nation wants to be makes their people healthier and economy greater, they need to give clean water to every individual. This will take the people of this nation far ahead of the people of other nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, arguing that free clean water should be provided to every home. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the benefits to public health and economic growth, which fit the requirements of the prompt. However, some ideas are under-developed or supported with vague generalisations. For instance, the claim that clean water boosts economic output is stated rather than fully explained, as seen in the sentence 'if everybody drink healthily they are able to work more in entire life.' While the main arguments are identifiable and present a clear point of view, they lack the depth, detailed elaboration, and fully extended supporting examples characteristic of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate distinct points, such as public health in the second paragraph and economic growth in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writer relies on basic transition markers like 'First of all,' 'Secondly,' and 'In a nutshell' to guide the reader. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the opening of the third paragraph where the pronoun 'they' lacks a precise, immediate antecedent. While the logical flow is generally maintained, these mechanical links and occasional referencing issues prevent the essay from achieving a more fluid and sophisticated level of organization.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating central ideas about health, water supply, and economic development. Attempts are made to use less common vocabulary, such as 'civilization,' 'waterborne disease,' and 'global community,' but these are sometimes accompanied by inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. Examples of these slips include 'pure mineral water' instead of clean drinking water, 'envirment' (spelling error), and awkward phrases like 'without any ups and downs.' While these lexical errors and spelling mistakes do not seriously impede communication, the limited flexibility and noticeable inaccuracies restrict the score to this level, as a wider and more precise control of vocabulary is required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting various structures throughout the response. There are instances of successful complex constructions, such as conditional clauses introduced by 'if.' However, the text contains a number of grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('all the disease keep away'), articles ('the supply of mineral water'), verb forms ('if government provided,' 'if everybody drink'), and prepositions. Despite these errors in grammar and punctuation, they rarely impede overall communication, as the reader can still grasp the intended meaning. A greater control over complex sentence patterns and a reduction in basic grammatical slips are necessary to progress further.
